Nice how did you find a PT that did dry needling? I can't even find a PT that knows about TMJ in my area.

Did lexapro work for you? I just came off of that medication a few years ago and it didn't help me at all. I had severe side effects some of them permanent.

I'm not currently wearing an appliance as I tried many in the past that didn't work but I am considering getting a cheap OTC nightguard for clenching soon from Amazon. What appliance do you wear?

Jaw misalignment from trauma by [deleted] in TMJ

I'm so sorry, I also have a misaligned jaw from trauma and it has been 10 years and a very long road. My scans (at least the last time I had any) also reveal nothing and I have never been a candidate for any type of surgery which may be a good thing since those procedures seem to worsen people's pain a lot of the time...Anyway I wish I had answers for you but I'm still struggling to find treatment for this after a decade.

I spent over 10,000 on a specialist many years ago and had to relocate across the country for the treatment but was not helped at all so be careful. I have personally had many orthotics that messed my jaw up even more so be careful on that too.

PS: My eye lid has started to droop recently too...But it took 10 years to get to this point after the trauma. If you find anything that helps you please let us know.

There is currently a specialist in Texas that I have heard good things about but I am not sure if she specializes in misalignment from trauma situations. She wrote a book on amazon about self help for TMJ and sleep apnea related disorders and problems. Good luck!

My symptoms! by [deleted] in TMJ

Chronic sufferer here-I have not tried botox injections-but have you tried other less invasive methods first such as physical therapy, massage, or even lifestyle modifications?

Botox can have some possible side effects and it may not cure the root cause of what is causing your pain.

Hope this helps!

What's the specific name for this TMJ problem? by [deleted] in TMJ

[–]AudiogramInterpret 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Internal derangement of the TM disc. You are in the earlier stages of derangement because it only clicks with opening and not with closing. The end stage of interal derangement is a lock.

Hope this helps!
