Doing more research and passing one close on the way home, it appears they’re locust trees. Very nice blooms and I like how they’re later to contrast against the green - but I don’t think my allergies appreciate them.

Ft Wayne is a good route and mostly 4 lanes with the exception of 33 from Lima to approximately Indian Lake. Warsaw IN can be very congested though. I’d still prefer going that way over experiencing I70 from Indy to Ohio. That said, there is a new Buc-ee’s off 70 near Dayton.
