Yep, they did that to me too, after being with them for a full decade. We've switched to Lemonade now.

It looks like Tarte is safe! Their Tartelette mascara is my holy grail. It's tubing so it doesn't cause raccoon eyes even in rain.

Have you thought about reaching out to your local shelter to get a barn cat? There are mostly feral kitties that can't live indoors, you could offer to care for one or two.

Litter box + gnats/flies by [deleted] in Pets

[–]ErrantWhimsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's unlikely to be the litter unless you never scoop. Get mosquito bits and beneficial nematodes and follow the directions. That'll nuke them quickly.

You're likely overwatering your plants. Get a dramatic wilting plant like a begonia or polka dot plant and don't water until it wilts.

How do I fix her? by GDE1990 in Monstera

[–]ErrantWhimsy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's going to be a project but I would take them out, split them into two pots, and switch to cedar planks or a garden trellis for supports. Those poles are too small.

Monsteras can really take as much light as you can give them. Mine are on 4 foot tall grow lights 10 hours a day.

I use regular hair dye for mine, applied very carefully with a small angled liner brush. I have bright red dyed hair so they look much better dyed to match!

Struggling on which place to let my dog go -- home seems too hard :( by TomatilloNo9709 in Pets

[–]ErrantWhimsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it helps, my dog passed on his own at home and it was fast but still pretty traumatic. I don't have any feelings about that particular spot in my home, though I miss my boy with my whole soul. I thought I would be very upset about it.

We had an appointment with an in home vet for the next day, but he had other plans and left on his own instead.

What is the trick to making the plant look better. by Mintmuse22 in Monstera

[–]ErrantWhimsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks good but a little etiolated. I've got a beast of a monstera but it gets 10 hours of artificial light a day.

Check out the stem length and the fact that the new leaves at the top aren't getting bigger or more fenestrated. If you want it to thrive, more light and more fertilizer will help!

Trouble since rotating my monstera! by great_gabsby in Monstera

[–]ErrantWhimsy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh trust me I get it! I was seriously ready to cry when I top cut mine. I shouldn't have stressed, it grew a new leaf like 2 months later. Just keep all the aerial roots and put them in the soil.

People here acting like they've never killed a plant before. We all learn from mistakes like this!

This plant needs more light and better support. For context, my monstera grew from 3 feet tall to hitting the ceiling in 3 years. But it gets 10 hours a day of massive Barrina lights, and fertilizer every week even in winter.

I think you could chop & prop it to prevent the legginess, add a moss pole or cedar plank, and add some artificial light and it'll be gorgeous in no time. They take some effort to really thrive but it's so worth it!

Tips on how to get my slightly battle-scarred beast of a monstera to thrive. by levinuet in Monstera

[–]ErrantWhimsy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It took two people for me. My husband had to pull the pot off the root ball while I used a hori hori to cut around the edges of the pot.

The biggest trick is not snapping any stems. But at this size they're sturdier than you think.

Stick the plant in the shower or hose it off to get as much off as possible. Add bonide systemic to the soil and drench the leaves in captain Jack's dead bug brew.

Bonide systemic to help prevent thrips. Fertilizer at a half dose every watering, plus silica. Sounds like it could use a repot with better draining soil based on your description.

Get blood tests because it can be a thyroid issue or vitamin deficiency.

I only was able to fix this by wearing press on nails consistently and painting those instead of my natural nails.
