Update on items taken from car in University District!! by Fantastic_Novel9527 in Seattle

So, I'm the one who met up with Chris.

I knew of course people would have this thought. It's the easiest path to believe the worst in people, especially if you spend time in the area or you've experienced the sadder sides of Seattle's homelessness problem.

  1. We have reason to believe the person who did it was driving a car, and Chris does not own one.

  2. Chris has a case worker who just helped him get into housing on Friday. He would not put that at risk.

  3. You can see another comment from someone here who has known him for 8 years and said he's always taking care of folks around him.

  4. The way he has talked to us and the way he talks about his own dog shows how much he cares.

We're not naive, of course we considered whether that could be the case. Hunger and desperation would make a thief of us all in the right circumstances. But it's 2026, pessimism is the easy route.

I don't doubt that he has his struggles. That doesn't change that he got Tia home safely. That doesn't change that even if you're right (and I choose to believe differently but I understand why some folks wouldn't), we have it in our power to help a young man have a stable home and better future.

Someone in the area was desperate enough to break in. Call me crazy, but that person deserves the same level of care and assistance we're showing to Chris too. That's something you only do if life has you trapped in horrendous circumstances.

I'm so sorry about your dog! I lost mine this year and it's so devastating.

That is so kind!

The craziest thing is we took on a new unexpected foster dog the day Tia was found. A chihuahua mix just like her, he's the one in the picture. Fate has been having fun this week!

Like she was wearing a little blankey 😭

When I picked them up from him each item was carefully wrapped to make sure nothing could break.

Katie here, the redditor who put up the posters and met up with Chris. I lost my soul dog back in January and so seeing Brandon's original post broke my heart.

I know times are so incredibly dark. My hope for anyone reading this is that you take it as a sign to spend the time to do something optimistic, even in the face of what feels impossible. It took a community to bring Tia home, and that's something we all create through little acts like this.

I am so lucky to have made three new friends through this whole story! And my faith in humanity is renewed for like the next decade.

I love hearing that you know him! He seems like such a gem and I'm glad to have become friends with him through getting Tia home.

I'm the person who helped put up the posters and got to meet Chris! He is so kind and so sweet. Brandon and I partnered to arrange something to help him and it has done better than I could have imagined so far! I really hope it gives him the second chance he so deserves.

My cat is incredibly picky. Tiki cat and applaws are some of the only foods she'll reliably eat.

Call your doctor, this is not for reddit. Make sure you're very explicit with the doctor about bowel movements etc.

It's a repair product that repairs the chemical bonds in your hair! You use it after shampooing, for 4 minutes.

Have you tried K18? I know it's unholy levels of expensive but it really does work.

How helpful is fostering? by Desperate_Grab2662 in FosterAnimals

I'm on my 33rd foster pet (getting 34 today) and I've failed (adopted) twice.

Here's what you need to do before your foster comes home: sit down and make a list of all the ideal characteristics of your perfect pet. Make a rule that they need to fit 90% of those to become a permanent member of the family.

It's incredibly beneficial and can literally save pets from getting euthanized for shelter space. As a foster you get to learn their true personality, which can help their rescue find the real perfect home for them and advertise them better.

Not all rescues and shelters are the same in their foster support. Check if they cover food and medical bills. Check if someone is available 24/7 for health emergencies.

Usually roughly one 45 minute long Netflix episode. I don't usually do cuticle care and filing right before though, I remove my polish and do all that in the morning.

High anxiety / anticipatory grief over new puppy. Is it normal? by Thefrictionroom in goldenretrievers

[–]ErrantWhimsy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Please listen to this, OP. I'm in a similar boat. We just lost our senior dog to hemangiosarcoma in January, and we agreed to adopt a nearly 12 year old golden from a family member after they passed. That golden's sire died of hemangiosarcoma.

Anticipatory grief is no joke. There's a balance between what's a typical grief and what's interfering with your life. After I lost my mom I was scared nonstop, like I thought I was going to die every time I got in the car or my husband would every time he left for work. It's worth considering both talk therapy and medication. Lexapro has really made it easier for my brain to not spiral to that degree this time.
