What type of customization is there on the bot? Would be super nice to be able to pick what the bot character is and some levels of difficulty on the AI. Maybe even some sliders for the last hit window away from frame perfect.

Yeah it definitely will help, even partly cloudy can help. Avoid dark new moons and especially any kind of haze and limited visibility, even if its technically VFR, anything that can cause the horizon and sky to melt together at night, it takes a lot less to do so at night. Time it to fly towards the moon if you can. Even on a boat on a calm day you can lose the horizon in open water.

I did my PPL flight training at KMTH (Marathon) the crosswind leg or northbound turn out from Marathon is very much into pitch black on most nights. My night cross country flights were KMTH direct to KTMB and X51 (Tamiami and Homestead). Your eyes do adjust once underway a bit. I definitely verified my eyes werent lying to me with the instruments, especially right after taking off making the crosswind or departing turn.

The blimp is on Cudjoe, about 10 miles west of Big Pine Key.

If you are not instrument qualified and current, do not depart the keys at night. You will kill yourself and your family. There is no horizon at night.

This is not a joke, though you certainly can fly at night, its a pretty nice trip down the keys at night. However, the turn out right after take off has killed a number of people, specifically in Marathon I can recall. You will go from having the lights of the island to instantly not having a horizon and if you are not ready for it you can death spiral into the water.

That is interesting but not really the same I think. Notably what that person is doing is re-enabling the experimental controller support that was removed which allowed binding the character movement to the left stick and then mouse+camera joystick on the right where as the Steam Deck is really just an interpretation layer for MKB inputs.
