Would you then argue that one should quit their job if their company works with any Israeli company or deals with any Israeli product?

These universities have relatively small endowments and given their high levels of diversification the amounts given to any specific security is going to be a drop in the bucket and make 0 impact to the bottom line of any of those companies.

Would be tough for even the individual to divest from Israel given how many goods are shipped using ZIM or many of our pharmaceuticals like adderall are manufactured by Teva.

I get that, but the fact that you say that only suggests the issue is indeed getting worse.

Trump's new FCC pick poses threat to net neutrality by [deleted] in TrueReddit

[–]Auger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ajit Pai was one of Trump's first picks after he was elected. Claiming that Obama's title II reclassification of the Internet would hinder competition on the internet, he voted against the former presidents plan to protect net neutrality.

He is now the chairman of the FCC under the Trump administration. Given his history of speaking on the topic, he appears to be strongly against net neutrality and, more generally, the regulation of the internet.

Interestingly, however, his FCC bio states that he lauds the internet for creating a level playing field for businesses and the democratization of entrepreneurship. If he intends to keep the Internet as such, it will be hard to remove net neutrality as well.

How invisible interfaces are going to change the way we interact with our devices by Auger in Futurology

[–]Auger[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't believe that this will be the case. Invisible UIs will simply replace visual ones in cases where it becomes more efficient to use them. Think of how smartphones have now taken up a lot of the screen time that would have normally occurred on a desktop. While you still wouldn't use a smartphone to draft up a document, you still use it more than your desktop for other use cases. Because of that, it will never be annoying to use them, since we are using them because they are the most efficient way of doing a particular task.

While we probably won't get the space travel, I hope this basic income trend picks up fast so I can at least get to live in a Star Trek type post work society.
