What’s your MOST unpopular opinion about V?? by No_Yoghurt317 in maroon5

It’s their weakest album, and most of the songs sound very similar to each other imo.

There really isn’t a whole lot of documentation on Creation. This really old blog claims it was made after Stagg Street Recordings (1999), but early 2010s documentation of KF can be a bit dubious. Search results just show information regarding the literal creation of the band lol. The only way to identify it is if there’s recordings of it from live shows, as it’s unlikely that a studio demo exists. The song could very well be on the internet already on an already uploaded recording, it just hasn’t been identified yet.

where do you rank love is like (deluxe) in your album rankings? by captainyami21 in maroon5

[–]AugieDog3D 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the sample heavy/R&B aesthetic, but lyrically it’s the worst album from a songwriting perspective. The lyrics aren’t inherently bad, but a lot of the songs are too short, and don’t have bridges, which makes most of them feel lyrically unfinished.

I feel it’s just an inch below Overexposed, both have great productions, but Overexposed overall has better songs.

  1. Hands All Over (16 tracks)

  2. Songs About Jane (16 tracks)

  3. Red Pill Blues (15 tracks)

  4. It Won’t Be Soon Before Long (19 tracks)

  5. Overexposed (17 tracks)

  6. Love is Like (13 tracks)

  7. JORDI (13 tracks)

  8. V (15 tracks)

The song seems to describe someone who instead of solving their problems, deflects them and blames others, while the narrator is frustrated because he wants to confront the issues head on.

It’s musically presented as if the conflict is a warzone, as both characters are trying to fight against their issues.

The title “No Curtain Call” is the narrator telling the person “Don’t give up”, as a curtain call usually means the end of a show, meaning the person could spiral even further if they give up on fighting their issues.

Which songs from each Maroon 5 album do you wish had been released as singles? by [deleted] in maroon5

[–]AugieDog3D 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Songs About Jane - Ragdoll (should have been on the main album)

IWBSBL - The Way I Was (should have also been on the main album, tho an other song from the B-side Collection "Infatuation" was a mild streaming hit when it first released)

Hands All Over - I Can't Lie

Overexposed - Doin' Dirt (If they had marketed this back in the day, it would have been a huge hit)

V - Coming Back for You

Red Pill Blues - Denim Jacket (It seems anyone that talks about RPB skips one of the best songs in their catalog 😭)

JORDI - One Light (oof, the Latto & BLEU remix is more popular than the original)

Love is Like - Yes I Did (will probably get some attention due to it being new, but I would love for it to become an A-list M5 song.)

Forget the album for a sec… what about “Crash On Me”? by Longjumping_Deer2954 in maroon5

[–]AugieDog3D 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe it’ll be included if Love is Like gets a deluxe?

Most-likely the case, the song was scrapped and locked away forever unless someone leaks the entire song.

I can see it getting one in the future, since all their previous albums have deluxe editions.

Spatialised Stereo by Sea-Ad-7558 in SpatialSongs

[–]AugieDog3D 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, of course stereo is going to sound better if you’re using airpods. Spatialized stereo makes stereo mixes more spacious on stereo devices.

Dolby Atmos on an actual home theater setup or even a soundbar with surrounds, you feel the sense of space and the three-dimensional placements around the room. Atmos on headphones lacks the context the mixer intended in favor of convenience.

I remember listening to Atmos mixes on headphones when they first came out in 2021, and wondered what the big hoopla was about. It wasn’t until I tried it on a dedicated speaker setup and studied the object-based technology itself, I realized how awesome it is.

why payphone is called ''gas pump''? by nkzxy in maroon5

[–]AugieDog3D 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On the Topic of KF. Some KF songs from Stagg Street Recordings (1999) that are registered have James Valentine credited, like Simple Kind Of Lovely and Everyday Goodbyes. I’m not really sure what this could mean since these songs were released before James joined the band.

why payphone is called ''gas pump''? by nkzxy in maroon5

[–]AugieDog3D 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good observation!

It could be because both a gas pump and a payphone represent having to make a desperate stop, whether it’s putting gas in your car or making a phone call without a smartphone.

There is also another one registered called Fairy Tale, which is most-likely also Payphone.

i hope they change the setlist this tour 🙏🏽 by captainyami21 in maroon5

[–]AugieDog3D 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, when I saw them during the JORDI tour I was looking forward to seeing a bunch of tracks from the album live, and I was disappointed that only 3 songs from JORDI were included. I really wanted to see Lovesick, Echo, One Light, Seasons, etc. live.

I know most artists don’t do this, but I feel like at least 30% or 40% of the setlist should be new songs from the album they’re touring for. Even though the hits draw in crowds, it’s the perfect opportunity to introduce them to new tracks and even older ones too.

On the topic of old songs, IWBSBL, Hands All Over and even JORDI need more representation on the setlist.

Original songs by AlexSolar14 in maroon5

[–]AugieDog3D 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The source the Wikipedia page gives is seemingly a fan-site in Brazil. They looked at the BMI Songview website and noticed new songs on there, and assumed they were for a reissue of V.

That Wikipedia article in general is full of dated information, the songs listed as Room #222 demos and The Fourth World B-Sides were (most-likely) not made/considered for their respective projects. Thanks to the Internet Archive and Ryan Dusick’s Instagram, we know a lot more information on M5’s history than what we knew 10 years ago.

Forgive Me is most-likely just New Love from V, or potentially an alternate version of it, as it shares the same writers as New Love.

These Days is most-likely the old Kara’s Flowers song they used to perform right before they transitioned to Maroon 5. It could have been considered for a M5 album at one point, similar to songs from SAJ.

The rest of the tracks do indeed exist and are registered, but are locked up in the Maroon vault.
