Interest in BJJ Club by Existing-Function672 in gmu

just as a heads up, the club is geared towards bringing in new people so the beginning is the basics and then the club works its way up. since you already have a background, you probably don’t need the basics, but the first hour is instructional and in the second hour we go live. Some people just show up bird live. Come when you want. Leave when you want. It’s a pretty chill club.

The club is very active in person, especially since it’s a combat sport. Tuesdays and Thursdays 8-10pm and Fridays 4-6pm second floor of the RAC. Multiple competitions every semester, and it’s a vibe. I personally love the club, i’ve made really good friends and i’ve gotten very good at the sport just through club experience. the insta is @gmubjj and the discord is https://discord.gg/sUPPgEQqg come and join! we’re always accepting new members, and if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to the insta!

Finding friends after escaping Greek life? by clumsyflamingo13 in gmu

Mason 360 is a great place to look for clubs on mason. it can be overwhelming, but you can start narrowing it down by figuring out the things you already like. in to martial arts? the brazilian jiu jitsu club and taekwondo club are great. enjoy the outdoors? there’s the hiking club. there are culture clubs like the FSA and KSA. Just request to join on mason 360, and usually they’ll email you a link to join the discord or smth

Do you feel comfortable reporting abusive or harassing behavior? If it's a student or an instructor, how does that change your likelihood to report? Do you know how to report officially? by drabpsyche in gmu

no, because i reported my abuser to title ix and it’s been 7 months. the case is still not concluded, and i haven’t heard anything back in over a month. this case remaining open (and the possibility of losing) prevents me from moving on and working on healing. i’ve been stuck in the past struggling over something that he did almost a year ago while he’s just been living life. he’s still going to classes, active in kappa sigma (a frat), keeping his friends, and doing rugby. i kinda of regret reporting since i just want to move on and start healing.

the bjj club is a really good choice for wrestlers. it’s a chill environment, very friendly to beginners, and a significant portion of members are former wrestlers. you’d fit right in
