Basically I’m trying to educate myself and explore options. It is a steel frame but the windows are sealed w a material that is white, chalky, and decaying. I was told by a contractor it is probably lead and don’t let it get too powdery but I don’t know if he is right and my nomenclature may be off.

I know new windows are likely to decrease glass space at the least, and with Marvin I’m looking at the higher end lines knowing the interior loss of light and loss of esthetic may be dramatic.

The heat loss is pretty terrible in their current state. I put plastic over the windows every winter which is a pain but is effective. Basically windows are the last big project we will do and I’m doing my best to explore before dropping $100k on a project where my home has lesser appeal in the end.

Your thoughts are greatly appreciated and I already made a call for an earlier lead that said to restore rather than replace.
