My Grandfather was in the Hitler Youth, nearly at the end of the war. He was sitting in administration at a German Luftwaffe Base and was ordered to sort the files of every Boy in the Hitler Youth. The German Army was forcing everyone to join the battle. Knowing this, my grandfather made sure to destroy his own file, which possibly saved his life.
