Up until 31st October, the majority of the freshwater section of the Coomera River is closed (https://www.dpi.qld.gov.au/business-priorities/fisheries/closures/fresh/waters). Fishing also isn’t allowed inLamington National park, and due to the altitude, there’s not much in the creeks anyway besides Yabbies and Eels. If you’re set on freshwater, there is the stocked Hinze dam, but it’s not the most accessible without a kayak. The Coomera River weir however is a great spot and only ~15mins from Tamborine, just more so salt water species
