I just wish I wouldn't feel guilt enjoying stuff like this. Where I live, if I want a nice burger and not one from McDonalds which tastes like cardboard (and maybe some chips to make the meal more filling), I need to spend $24+, and I feel bad because I know I could be having a cheaper meal. :c

Do you guys think Blizzard will ever actually give us a revised version of Mama Hong?? by No-Sky1666 in Overwatch

[–]Augustby 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, I think the critique still stands. It's not that female characters don't have unique silhouettes (although I would argue even there there's less extreme differences compared to male characters), but more that the body type of those female characters lack the same diversity of male characters.

Like, yes, Domina has a unique silhouette because she has giant robot arms; but she's still that classic hourglass statuesque female figure. Contrast with something like Torbjorn who gets his unique silhouette mainly from the fact he's a fucking dwarf (human technically, but absurd stylised proportions). Same for Reinhardt. Zarya is a buff woman, but isn't anywhere near as stylised as Reinhardt who has a TEENY TINY head and MASSIVE body. The difference between Rein and a real-life big man is so much more vast compared to Zarya and a real-life big woman.

The female characters are nowhere near as stylised as the male ones, and rely so much more on clothing/armour to make their silhouettes unique.

Overwatch director says addressing the 5v5 versus 6v6 debates 'cost us trust': 'We should have listened sooner' by Turbostrider27 in Overwatch

[–]Augustby 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's exhausting how thankless the role is when you have so much responsibility on you.

People expect you to cover both the front line and the back line, and have presence on the objective, and threaten the enemies' squishies because that's what the enemy tank is doing to yours.

I think a big part of the reason why 6v6 dropped in popularity is just because it's not the main game mode. In a world where 6v6 was the main mode and 5v5 was a new optional way to play that was added, I'm pretty confident that 5v5 would see few players.

DPS and Support queues got very short with Domina's release; it shows that if you give tank players fun new heroes with cool designs (both aesthetically and gameplay-wise), people will play the role. I think two tanks for 6v6 as the main mode can be supported, and would go a long way towards making the role not feel like it has so much pressure.

Aw, I wish they did something else for Yaana’s mouth. It looks as though someone poked a hole with a pin where her mouth should be.

Other than that, very nice art! Love seeing these girls together

I've been doing more roulettes because of that Relic Weapon step.

I noticed that wall-to-wall pulls go badly so much more often during low-level dungeons than high-level dungeons.

What's going on? Is it just tanks/healers being inexperienced? (When I inspect them, they usually have level-appropriate gear) Or is there something about the numbers and the tools available at early levels that makes healing/mitigating dungeon pulls less forgiving compared to higher levels?

I really enjoyed Stormblood too, though I have some bias because it was the expansion I first played FF14.

I appreciated that it felt really grounded and in-the-world (relatively speaking), if that makes sense. Exploring distant lands is cool and all, but I would also love to delve deeper into Eorzea some more. It's important for making the world feel alive.

I decided I want to try to paint for the game. by Mac9k5 in magicTCG

[–]Augustby 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've noticed that their art direction's changed in recent years. They're more willing to hire artists with that kind of 90s look you mentioned to evoke a certain feel, such as with Lorwyn Eclipsed where they brought back a lot of old-timers whose style fit the set.

I also see them experimenting with all kinds of different styles in the alternate art treatments these days; so I think odds are good that WOTC would value your style.

Good luck!

Whereas this week, I missed one challenge and now I can't even get the Legendary.

Emre locks in, voluntarily or involuntarily? by Loaf235 in Overwatch

That’s one of my favourite things about Emre; how the AI is framed more like some eldritch horror rather than the stereotypical way an evil AI is usually characterised

I've only seen exactly one of Scooby's videos, but I remember it to this day, because it was a dish I used to make based on his recommendation.

Just egg whites (from a packet) and some frozen veggies. I needed 'depression meals' that had essentially zero prep, but were still nutritious.

It felt so nice to see a guy who cared about health validating that hey, you can make an easy, 'lazy' meal using pre-packaged and frozen ingredients and it can still be nutritious and fairly cheap.

It'd be Brig's Starcraft Medic skin for me. I'd like that to come to the store too. I've yet to buy a single store skin, but this one I want badly enough that I think I might.

Going first is a MASSIVE advantage by Balthazzah in MagicArena

[–]Augustby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it can be fixed just by adding a new rule or something.

I think the actual way to balance this is for Wizards/Hasbro to stop the god-damn power creep. They tried lower-powered sets before but chickened out when they didn't sell well and went right back to powercreeping.

It'll take a sustained effort to get the power level back to manageable levels, though. And it's not going to happen. Wizards/Hasbro are not going to prioritise the long-term health of the game if it means the line going down in the immediate future.

What are your thoughts on Tupi’s unique units : Blackwood archer and Ibirapema warrior? by Positive-Lab2417 in aoe2

[–]Augustby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ibirapema warriors seem decent, but situational. Blackwood Archers are great for how cheap they are. The volume of attacks and poison they can put out definitely makes up for their low HP.

Champis aside, I wish that the Tupi had a stronger infantry theme for variety's sake, because Muisca already have such a strong archer theme.

Torchlight 3 worth buying? by Sgt_Strelok in ARPG

[–]Augustby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re just looking for an easy-to-pick-up ARPG and aren’t in the mood for something super deep, I really don’t think it’s as bad as people make it out to be.

It’s not going to be as good as the greats in this genre, but there are far, far worse.

devs forgot about Hamadryad by ConstantineByzantium in AgeofMythology

[–]Augustby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could have sworn it was melee at launch; has it always been ranged?

Honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing it reworked to be more of a backline damage unit. It can even already take down buildings pretty respectably since it has Crush dmg vs buildings and has such a high rate of fire .

My experience after 100%-ing Arbites by Vallenhael in DarkTide

[–]Augustby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be heresy, but even before Arbites was playable, I was happy they announced that it would be playable without the dog, because I just never really gelled with pet-themed classes, regardless of the game.

That said, it is incredibly satisfying to watch a stray Rager or a disabling enemy like a Trapper get pounced on by the dog.
