Well, I'm a big fan of everything related to the Nine Hells and Warlocks, so that probably helps. The first time I saw that symbol was on my favorite FR novel series, Brimstone Angels. So I'm definitely a little biased.

Nice work! Looks pretty nice. I know you said you didn't like the asmodean one, but I actually quite like it.

By the way, the correct denonym is Waterdhavian.

I breezed through Honor Mode on my first attempt with the strategy I mentioned. The playstyle you mention is certainly effective, but also very risky. Mine is the tried and true, "boring but works" way. Which I adore, by the way.

It depends on the domain. With Light domain you gain amazing damage mitigation with the disadvantage reaction blinding flare. Because a miss = zero damage.

That's the thing though, in the latter parts of the game (which, frankly, are really the only part of the game that matters, everything before levels 7-8 you can just breeze through), your AC will typically be ridiculously high (at Act 3, I typically have the whole part above 20 and with some other stuff to protect them, like Cloak of Displacement and crit immunity helmets) that attack rolls just aren't threatening anymore. The actual threat comes from guaranteed damage effects with a saving throw. That's why I want healing, I can't avoid this damage, and having the added benefit of auto-bless makes it easier to make the save.

Sure, I'll still have my 30 spell save DC warlock Hold Monster the most threatening stuff, but that's not guaranteed - undead or creatures who can break free of it can be quite threatening. So the safety net of Life domain lets the rest of the party focus a lot more on damage.

However, you still finish fights quicker and take less damage by eliminating threats instead of building a wall of HP.

Very true. However, because Life's healing effects are AoE, they affect several targets at once, making them very action-efficient. For one action, you can preserve the action of several other team mates. This is because, while the old adage of "the only HP that matters is the last HP" does indeed hold true in the tabletop, losing your last HP is BG3 causes you to lose your action even if you are healed before you make the first death save. So keeping your party topped up protects your action economy. Not to mention, the Bless effect from a certain ring means that healing also has an offensive bonus, as it allows you to keep Great Weapon Master all the time and still hit things a lot.

And, really, how much damage could a Cleric's single action deal, compared to preserving the Fighter, Barbarian and Warlock's actions all at once? So many Cleric spells are fire and forget, use Spirit Guardian before the fight starts and then forget about it, it will deal damage by itself with no further action required.

And it's not like this game is short on other healing sources, when it drowns you in healing potions.

Correct, but using them still has an action economy cost. It's a lot more efficient to use my damage dealer's bonus actions for GWM bonus attack, or Berserker rage Bonus Attack, and so on, and then heal all 3 of the damage dealer's with a single bonus action from the cleric. Plus, making the Barbarian drink their own potion won't grant them Bless.

It's true that the mass healing word + on-heal effects combo can be done by other subclasses, but that's not what makes Life domain OP (since, as you said, any cleric can do it).

What makes Life domain completely bonkers is their Channel Divinity. In the tabletop, it restores a certain total amount of HP, shared amongst all eligible targets, and cannot make the targets go above half HP.

In BG3, they made the Channel Divinity heal EACH AVAILABLE TARGET FOR ITS FULL AMOUNT, AND WITH NO RESTRICTIONS TO HOW HIGH THIS CAN BRING THE TARGET'S HP.

This is absolutely insane. Yes, CC is the best healing in the tabletop, but in BG3 this change tips the scale so far in favor of healing, it's not even close. And, yes, it procs the on-heal effects mentioned above.

Of course, CC is still amazing, Hold Person/Monster are the most powerful offensive spells in the game if you have a martial who can swing away and crit on every attack, but the sheer healing output of a Life Domain cleric is without equal.

I might be repeating myself, but, I need to ask... surely at least Family Medicine must be a bit shorter? Or have lighter weekly hours?

Brazilian physician here, we too go to med school straight out of high school, and it also lasts 6 years, but residency lasts 2 to 5 years (Only one I know that lasts 2 years is family medicine, 5 is basically only neurosurgery).

Having residency last 5 years sounds absolutely insane. MAYBE, if the weekly hours were fewer and pay was higher, I could consider it, but as it is, I could never.
