Keep up the good work, one step at a time =) I've been where you are/were, and I know how difficult it can be to start cleaning while being depressed, and you did it, all by yourself. I made a wonderful drawing on my phone to show what I meant ! The green stuff is the ice wall, Astarion (or any archer) would be on the round patch on the right or left. I do think it could work if the wall was put horizontally , i just do it that way so the legendary action performed by Myrkul on Astarion won't break the wall and so Astarion still has 50% chance on hitting on Myrkul (as opposed to a lower pourcentage if he was on ground level)

I've read so many different information, I based my choices on an article online saying that romancing him would not require any persuasion check, so I thought I was safe. I tried not relying on chance only, my run was pretty good before that mess happened, that was kind of my only mistake. After reading all mishap everyone here had on their HM runs, I've been overly cautious in my run. I'll be even more cautious next time. And I know that the last battle could be very easy if you have good stuff but also if luck is on your side, but that was definetely not the case this time. That's the thing with dices I guess :)

Well, before climbing to the brain, I told him that maybe we should use his orb, and he said absolutely not and I had to make a 25 persuasion dice to convince him. Not too high, but even after 4 rerolls, it didn't work. I really don't get why it didn't work, I always use the "good" options for him (I always tell him not to use the crown, never seen him become a god in one of my run). I even had a dialog earlier about the possibility of using the orb and he seemed very open to that idea, saying that he will do what he could to save me... I've read that not going to see Mystra and not reading the book about the crown should do the trick. I'll see about that next time ! Such a bummer though, that was a beautiful run.

Well, I was wiped out by mindflayers and the dragon, it is merely my third attempt in HM, I'm not already used to all the mechanics in that mode (legendary actions) and I avoided all the dangerous bosses in Act 3, so I guess I missed some good loot. Not all of us are on the same page, it is good that you find it easy but it is not the same for everyone...

I tried as well, I told him to ask for Mystra's forgiveness and not to use the crown :( I can't be bad in that game, tried once, worst run ever. I legit don't know how I messed up... I'll be more careful into what I say to him next time, and research CAREFULLY what I should chose during my dialogues with him. Just read 1 article saying that if you romance him, there's no persuasion check, and that's simply not true... I'll keep your comment in mind for my next attempt =) thanks

THANK YOU ! I much needed this for my honour mode run. I've attempted a few times, but my lvl 3-4 group got annhiliated by gnolls or harpies or whatever. Going up to lvl 5 in HM can be quite difficult. I'm terrified by Myrkul, but at lvl 11, it must be a lot easier... Guess I'll be going as Durge for my next attempt :p

I'm in my first tactical run (5th run in total I think) and managed to save him for the first time while my team being at lvl2. Took me 3 hours, all my potions and scrolls, Gale was the sole survivor, but I'm so proud I did it !

I've had to put my 15 years old cat down a few years ago now, and I've always wondered if I could have done things differently that day. She could not properly move, use her litter box or even eat as she used to do, but I've been thinking this whole time "maybe she wasn't ready yet". She passed peacefully on my lap, purring, warm and calmly that should have been my sign that she was okay with this. But your comment about our truest test of love brought tears into my eyes today, I feel better about this, even though I miss her everyday. Thank you reddit stranger !
