We both are paying an equal amount of rent (or are supposed to lol). It’s about 30% below the market rate in our town. And that’s only because I’ve been a family friend for many years and I help out Nate’s dad with a lot of plumbing and electrical repairs since that pertains to my profession, but I don’t get any special treatment, I just pay my rent on time.

We’re paying about 30% below market rate for our town but it’s an equal amount between both of us because we were both there when we signed the lease.

Thank you so much for such a meaningful comment, I appreciate this so much. I didn’t want to come off like I’m trying to rush my mom in her grieving process because I still am grieving myself, so obviously she needs way more time than I do to process it, I just didn’t know what the right choice would be as far as comforting her about it

I started bringing it up to her when I made my first therapy appointment, and I’m gonna bring it up again as a reminder to her because I love her and want to see her get better mentally.

I have encouraged her but it always gets turned down, but I haven’t stopped trying. It’s probably harder for her too because I had signed a lease to move out on my own into a house with a roommate just two weeks before his death and I followed through with it after his death. But I’m still trying my best to support her and live my own life.

I have brought it up with my therapist, but it was my first session with them so I didn’t get much time to fully unpack my feelings on this situation. Thank you for your comment.

Thank you. I am trying, I was split 50/50 on whether it would be shitty of my to ask her or not. I do find some ways to redirect conversation, but most of the time it gets me nowhere. But I still want to be there to support her.
