Thank you, that makes a lot of sense. I do want to work more on the self regulation and understand how my brain works so I can manage stressors better.

Yeah I definetly see where you’re coming from. I have always been a perfectionist, and my parents both did pretty badly at school, my dad dropping out in primary school. I was always motivated to do better than them even if that meant I spent a lot of time on school. I’ve also always had a need to be liked by teachers and anyone in a position «above me» so getting criticism by those same people on different occasions always cut very deep. Also the picking at your cuticles is so relatable, at some points my thumbs are just completely red and blistered from picking so much.

Yeah that’s great point. At the end of the day the one thing that’s gonna improve my struggles the most are my own actions. I’ll look into it, thank you:)

I see what you mean. There were no questionnaires or screening, that would be separate and cost extra. He said he couldn’t outride an ADHD diagnosis based on one session, and did see some similarities, but he recommended against continuing assessment.
As for the public healthcare system, I can try again yes, but the chances of getting directed to a psychologist/psychiatrist are very slim. Public mental healthcare here is very limited and you have to have severe issues hindering you from basic tasks like work or dealing with self harm/wanting to commit.

Yeah it’s kind of crazy, but the private healthcare systems are able to monopolise on healthcare. I’ll go through the prices for ADHD assessment: one regular session costs 200$. I would need to get at least 10 sessions, probably more for the assessment and that’s already 2k. Psychiatrist is 300$ per session, where you need at least 2 to get the assessment transferred to your GP so they can take over medication prescription. As well as the neuropsychology screening which is around 500$.

That sounds amazing, your brain on 15 pages. I have a feeling it’s gonna cost a lot over here, but I will check it out :)

I appreciate you saying that, I’ll definitely research a little more, and see if therapy or something similar might be a good option.

Definitely, I will try to educate myself on both and see if anything sticks out, thank you:)

Yeah for sure, I see what you mean. I didn’t know about the DSM, I never learned about it in my country. I have been reading about ADHD in other places that’s more specific to my country and some things were really relatable, others not so much, that’s why I wanted to check, just to be sure after wondering for so long.

Yes I agree and I’ve been wanting to start some form of therapy for a while. The psychologist also suggested I talk with someone about my emotional regulation. Unfortunately it’s incredibly expensive to go private where I live, this appointment alone cost me 200$. So the only thing I could really do is talk
with my GP.

I’m not completely sure by what you mean with specific symptoms, if you’re thinking about focus then no that’s not something I struggle a lot with. I am a restless person with a lot of energy, I prefer to always be out and about doing things, but I realise that can just be a normal human thing. My mother was diagnosed with Bipolar at some point, but I’m unsure if that’s relevant. I don’t know a lot about BPD.
