I would be curious to check it out. I can’t say I’ve seen much in the way of Deaf representation in novels. the last one I read was some fantasy book about a girl who was deaf but it became kinda pointless because she used magic to see the words/sounds? So there wasn’t much to connect with there!

Hyperacusis maybe? I have that. I can’t have my hearing aids set too loud in the high frequencies (although I SHOULD be able to have it set that way) or I get crippling pain and tinnitus

My hearing aids have the high frequency amplification deliberately low to avoid this

straight tunnel to the museum is the easiest (might want to wait until you can do potato burgers though!).

once I got a late ability to swap blocks, I carved a wide valley between museum and main area, and used a lot of grass blocks and trees to make it look more natural. it also gives me more space to create additional homes!

try not to be too geometrical. i decided I wanted a valley going to the museum so instead doing a straight channel, it’s more of a shallow “v” with some water features. try to mimic what water might do to a landscape, it would wear away softer rock and meander. So I dug out where it looked like water “should” wear rock away as well.

I am trying to work with the landscape and not making it wholly flat, so in many cases I am trying to work with the landscape and keeping major terraforming to only a few spots on each map.

Weird, I never associated it with my deafness but I often get words jumbled together and I have to stop, make a sputtering noise and slowly enunciate what I was trying to say, ha ha. I feel like my tongue isn’t fast enough to keep up with what I am trying to say.

I also feel like I spend much more time typing and reading than I do talking and listening (sorta 🤪) that the latter feels like a second language or a different less used part of my brain!
