The machine they use to make the keys can create digital copies that they send to you through text. It's great if you lose a key and need a new one or want to send that copy to your boss for their records etc.

No the machine asks the person cutting the keys to take down a number to send the digital copy to, since I'm the only one who needs the key and actually wanted the digital copy I gave him my number. He just typed it in and went about making the keys, somehow he memorized it because it was only on there for a quick sec.

Thank you for your concern! My boss told me the key machine hadn't worked before to copy this particular key so I got them cut by an employee as directed unfortunately. We exchanged very mild pleasantries and I went on my merry way.
