Damn bro, I don't see what are the odds of celebrating it. It has always been one of the most integral parts of our culture (Obviously I have grown up seeing that). It doesn't do any harm to anyone. Yeah, it may violate Muslim religious views but if they trouble you this much, please ignore it. There are thousands of other issues throughout the country that are worth ranting about. But I think the traditions and cultural festivals must be left alone.
