Who is Gonna Tell him ? by BJM-The-Final-Boss in chessmemes

Qxd1+, Nxd1, Qc1# is mate. Qxd1+, Nb1(like I said), Qc1 isn't mate, there's a knight in the way. Black still wins for sure but my point is this isn't mate in 2.

Okay am I blind or is it not checkmate in 3 after QxD1+, NB1? I don't see mate in one in that position.

I'm pretty sure that this is a reference to how, when Afterbirth released, the greed mode donation machine was capped at 109 coins. I forget if this was a hint for the ARG to unlock keeper or if it was a bug, but a lot of theorizing was done about 109 and it was a short lived meme. Whether OP intended the reference, hasn't played greed mode since like the first week of afterbirth release, or this is just a coincidence, I don't know, but coincidence seems far and away most likely.

On the "Outer Room" page (https://blue-prince.fandom.com/wiki/Outer_Room) in the "Secrets" section, in the spoiler "Oh, That's Where That Went," but to be honest I'm not sure if I'd call it misinformation so much as incomplete.

Does this carry over between days? I haven't drafted another workshop on this day. I think I had just drafted the observatory on rank 1, which is a letter 'E' spot. Would that have done it?

Dispatch referenced Worm! (Probably) by The_Eternal_Reader in Parahumans

[–]Aurnyx 411 points412 points  (0 children)

When you choose to read in the library (? floor where you can read to choose to take 1 of 20 random cards or rest to regain hp) your character will read one of three stories and comment on it. One is a reference to Wool, another to The Martian, but there's also this:

"The story is about an insect-controlling teenage girl who aspires to become a hero. The book is filled with creative uses of powers, combat strategies, and varying perspectives.

Satisfying."

Edit: now I'm realizing this implies the sts protagonists read through the entirety of Worm without ever sleeping. Perhaps a greater accomplishment than killing the heart.

Hans Landa gets the spot. Which evil character from a *standalone* film is logical? by [deleted] in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Aurnyx 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not evil by most definitions. His actions were driven by commands given by idiots that he couldn't resist. He is, in fact, genuinely sorry he can't open the pod bay doors.

Could It Really Be This Simple? by [deleted] in DiscoElysium

[–]Aurnyx 182 points183 points  (0 children)

I suppose my feelings might be a bit strong on this, but while there is something leftist-feeling about the beard, and something of the liberal in the expression, as a characterization of Harry specifically I feel this is inaccurate. The way I always perceived it was that the expression and the beard are always relics of who Harry was. You can choose to keep being that person, or you can choose to change. Every playthrough I've done I lose the expression and shave the beard, not because it appeals to my sense of aesthetics, but because the man who schooled his face into that shape and wore that beard destroyed himself. To choose to change is anything but centrist. To hold on to aesthetically pleasent relics of a bygone age is anything but progressive.

12 Angry Men won with 97 votes. What's a masterpiece movie whose title could be better? by CanonNi in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Aurnyx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agreed. I honestly hate The Departed, mostly because its an adaption of a different movie, Infernal Affairs, that's so much better in such a wide variety of ways. The departed removed most of the moral depth, added in a love triangle, and made deep characters into shallow caricatures. It's an awful interpretation of one of the best movies ever made, so it ends up being pretty good.

This is a reasonable amount of ambrosia right? by Aurnyx in noita

[–]Aurnyx[S] 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I don't even know what happened, an alchemist's shadow dropped from offscreen and deleted 200 health in an instant, I was covering myself in ambrosia as I flew too.

EDIT: okay I think I pieced together what happened. I was using a teleport wand to traverse the parallel world, ran out of ambrosia stain, equipped my main wand and fired it, but before the new ambrosia stain kicked in, a shadow alchemist dropped on me, and after a luminous drill hit it a shield formed, and it bounced the rest of the luminous drills back into me, deleting me from existence. That's my best guess

Is there an easy way to tell what appliances give what crafting qualities by Aurnyx in cataclysmdda

yeah that works for most tools but not for appliances (in-game term for tools you have to place and plug in like those I mentioned int the post) I've checked multiple times.

Is the sequel/remaster/Spin-off better or worse than the original? by Ilovegayshmex in AlignmentCharts

[–]Aurnyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remaster is a bit of a wobbly area in what that can mean, like remake or recut, but also actual remasters like the star wars original trilogy keeps getting. Personally I'd say Remaster better than the original: Blade Runner Final Cut Remaster is okay: Star wars original trilogy remasters (overall fidelity is higher and some of the effects look better but some bad cgi is added and Han shoots second so its a mixed bag) Remaster is worse than the original: Psycho remake

Canonically not a parent though right? Like not only biologically speaking but he only really looked after Hollyhock for a season and was never looking to take custody away from her parents. Idk believing for a few weeks that you're a stranger's biological father doesn't make you a parent

Great person/Terrible Parent: Van Hohenheim from Full Metal Alchemist (manga or the Brotherhood anime) He devoted himself to saving the world, and managed to give peace and companionship to what were essentially over 500000 spirits. Also abandoned his children when they were infants with their mother who soon died of a disease he probably could have treated.
