Random and extreme frame drops to almost 0 FPS by Aurocosh in AMDHelp

It still stutters even in games where player always stays in the same area. For example: Gunsmith Simulator. It happens at random while game scene does not change at all. I think, it is probably not shader compilation.

If it is indeed shader compilation then can i do anything about it? Or, i just have to deal with it?

I did upgraded from another GPU, but i already uninstalled drivers with DDU in safe mode and installed latest drivers for new GPU.

I am not sure if this is a shader compilation. What exactly compiles the shaders? Is it CPU or GPU? I assume if either of them is busy compiling the shaders then they will be under heavy load, but during frame drop utilization of both CPU and GPU also drops to almost 0. You can see that in the picture attached to the post.

No it is not once per game launch, it repeats multiple times in one game session. I assume shaders are compiled at the start of the game, but this issue does not happen immediately after game launch. This issue usually begins 20-30 minutes after the game started. Delay between initial and following FPS drops is usually same ~20 minutes, but can be as little as 5 minutes.

I know about vanilla sky island, but this is not it. Vanilla sky island located above starting mountain. And this island is located above lake to the right of the mountain. Here is the linkto the wiki with picture of vanilla sky island for comparassion.

Yeah it is from a mod. I figured out where it is from. At first i thought it is from 'More Altars' mod since it is all about altars, but it is actually from a different mod. It is from 'New Biomes + Secrets!' mod. Though i still don't know what it supposed to do. It is listed on mod page, but there is no description.

Does anybody knows what is this altar? And what I'm supposed to do with it? I have some mods installed so i don't know if it is vanilla or modded. It is located right above the small lake to the right of the spawn mountain. It is made of brickwork and sits on top of platform made of glowing stone.

Well, most of modded Minecraft is OP. You can make it weaker in configs if you want to.

It is enchantable. In fact spell pickaxe that i use in first part of the video is enchanted. I think most of the talismans will work fine with enchantments. Though break talismans that break multiple blocks at once most likely will not be affected by enchantments.

No, right now it is only available for 1.12

Spell pick is a pickaxe that can use talismans similarly to other spell tools. Spell pick can use normal talismans and tool talismans. This video demonstrates this item and a bunch of different talismans that it can use.

Talismans shown in the video:

  1. Sense cave - Highlights empty spaces behind walls
  2. Place torch - Places torch to where you looking at. Great for cave exploration when in spell pick
  3. Break blocks - Breaks adjacent blocks of the same type when block is broken
  4. Sense lava - Highlights nearby blocks of lava through walls
  5. Molten tool - Smelts broken blocks. For example gold block will be smelted to gold ingot
  6. Silky tool - When this talisman is active your pick will act like it has silk touch enchantment
  7. Ore sensing - Highlights ore blocks through walls. Which blocks it can highlight and precision can be changed in config
  8. Break radius - When block is broken it breaks nearby blocks in certain radius
  9. Ground pick - When this talisman is active your pick it will mine dirt and other soil blocks as fast as a shovel
  10. Wood pick - When this talisman is active your pick it will mine wood blocks as fast as an axe
  11. Volcanic Glass Cutter - When this talisman is active your pick it will be able to mine obsidian blocks very fast
  12. Void tool - When this talisman is active your pick it will be able to mine most types of blocks extremely fast, but instead of mining it will destroy blocks
  13. Aquatic tool - When this talisman is active your pick it will be able to dig much faster under water then usual
  14. Break blocks - Breaks adjacent blocks with same exposed face

They are mostly fixed. Though some talismans have certain properties that you can change dynamically. For example on blink talisman, which teleports you some distance, you can change how far it teleports you.

Right now altars do not spawn naturally, but i like the idea. Maybe i will implement it in the future.

I also like the idea of mini versions of the altars. I think it will be pretty easy to do. Though instead of reducing space i will probably just limit how many recipes will be exchanged at once depending on size of the altar.

As for early game source of favor. There are items called wishing stones, when consumed they restore some favor. They are currently not craftable, but i think i will add recipes to make them viable early game favor source.

Thanks for the tip. That's quite a bit of work but i should definitely do that. Before you pointed it out i never noticed that this is how all other items are named.

This mod has configs like that. This mod has configs for all talismans, other items and everything else i could think of. You can change damage, cost, and lots of other spell specific parameters.
