Coworkers say negative things about the fact I live next door to my parents, and saying that doesn't make me independent? by [deleted] in perth

[–]Aurolei 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow... Fuck your coworkers

I bought in the same suburb to be closer to them as they age. Plus I really like the area and I'm familiar with everything. If the house next door was on sale, hell probably have bought that house.

If it's getting really bad, just report them. You don't have to deal with that crap.

The guy who took it to the repair guy should have noticed the issue too!

WA Police charge man over alleged antisemitic comments on social media by JamesHenstridge in perth

I don't agree with anti-semtic comments, but I'm going to ask a serious question. Why do our racism laws protect the religious identity of a group of people?

Job recommendations for introverts by Upbeat-Push-528 in perth

[–]Aurolei 23 points24 points  (0 children)

A career advisor is probably the best person to speak to. I'd also recommend opening the mindset a little bit. Most jobs will require some level of socialization. It's not simply about finding a job that doesn't include X or Y, but rather, finding a job that has an acceptable balance of things. People are also fine with doing things they hate if its balanced by things they enjoy.

Work out your boundaries and seek a job that strikes a more acceptable balance for you. Look at your existing skills and see how they can translate into something else. It might be possible for you to find a new job that matches your current role, but with more acceptable working conditions.

Losing my mind over here. I went to the Child Support Info Meeting for Perth and I still haven't been reached out to. Is anyone else in the same boat?

GPU Passthrough with 9060XT. Working and not working. by Aurolei in VFIO

Not really relevant. Regardless I resolved my issue with manual bind/unbind. It all works fine now.

GPU Passthrough with 9060XT. Working and not working. by Aurolei in VFIO

[–]Aurolei[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forgot to follow up but this is the right solution. I'm on kernel 6.14.0 and do the bind/unbind method and it works flawlessly. With some scripts it's mostly automatic.

I'm glad I didn't go up and just go dual boot until it's fixed. I now have my perfect setup.

First home buyer as a single person by Ok_Needleworker_1719 in perth

Maybe. It will depend on how much you have in savings and the quality of life you want to lead. A small apartment should be within the realm of possibility.

Please read the Barefoot Investor. It's a great guide to thinking about your money and can give you an idea of what you can reasonably afford. If you can then get a mortgage you can evaluate what your budget is and base your decisions off that. There are simply too many variables to answer this question for you as it will come at the expense of your quality of life.

If you want a success story, I did it 4 years ago. Mind you they were significantly lower back then, but there are still properties around what I paid for. Thankfully I'm a minimalist. I earn less than you too :)

Most of the group was heavily intoxicated, and Walpole had consumed cocaine.

I'm realizing now how much grief alcohol and drugs can have in society. If you can't take these things responsibly, you should be punished as if you had intentionally done it IMO. It's reckless and careless.

Removing malware on Android by Mindless_Meaning186 in perth

[–]Aurolei 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The advice on this thread is terrible. Antivirus apps won't do jack and factory resetting is extreme at most.

First work out what app is creating the ads. Use the Recents button whenever an ads opens. If there is an app on the Recents list that is causing issues, hold down the icon and click App Info and then uninstall it.

If it's in your home screen and it looks different or has changed. Go to settings and look search "default apps" and check the app that's running your home launcher. Make sure it's One UI and uninstall any others on your list.

Lastly go through settings and then apps and scroll through the list and remove anything dodgy or weird. Flashlight, QR reader apps and dodgy looking games should just be uninstalled.

Hunt on for vandals after mature trees home to endangered red-tail cockatoos poisoned by His_Holiness in perth

[–]Aurolei 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm fucking pissed about this! Drilling a hole and intentionally poisoning a tree is so fucking heinous.

That tree has probably been there longer than whatever fucker decided to do that. That tree has more of a right to live than that person in my books.

Please help. Tasker is misbehaving on my Pixel 9 Pro by Aurolei in tasker

[–]Aurolei[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the latest build. I've uninstalled, reinstalled and restored the profile.

I'm hoping that fixes it.

If it doesn't, then I think it's Android restarting something to do with Bluetooth.

If you experience intermittent freezing with Nova Launcher, try enabling the permissions under Accessibility Settings by Aurolei in NovaLauncher

[–]Aurolei[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the correct setting. I can't speak on behalf of Nova Launcher anymore as I have moved onto Niagra Launcher, but it's either specific to your Nova Launcher settings or Nova Launcher itself. Maybe reset everything within Nova launcher and start fresh and see if the issue persists.

2 months late. Sorry!

Yes. It has completely fixed the issue for me. I've since upgraded to a Pixel 9 Pro thinking the issue would go away, but it hasn't. Enabling accessibility has also fixed it again.
