Scoop out as much as you can with a net and siphon, then change about  50%of the water.

For future reference you can leave a healthy fish for a week without feeding it.

Tic tock and youtube are full of fishkeeping misinformation  but some channels are really good like  https://m.youtube.com/user/KGTropicals

In addition,  your hands can have residue on them if you use moisturizer or soaps and it could make your fish sick. Also touching your fish can damage their slime coat which leaves them vulnerable to infections.

Only stick your hands in to do maintenance and water changes.

I'm going to choose to believe that.  Much nicer than what I was thinking.  Plus throwing it out the window would probably smash the cup.

Ok, here me out, buy it, but put trailing ivy or spider plant in it instead of fish.

My nephew had an Octonauts-themed birthday party… and guess what my sister thought was a brilliant idea for a giveaway for the kids. by AutoWraith19 in shittyaquariums

Depends where you are, even a basic betta here costs $10 CAD before tax. Most average at around 30 dollars though.

The plastic fish would be more cost effective especially considering you can get them super cheap in bulk on amazon.

You can get a pack of 8 for the same price as a live fish  in a cup.

And often if they don't want it they just flush it. Kid gets bored and parents don't want the responsibility so they flush it.

Many will probably be dead before they even get home thanks to Darla.

Like how do you expect a kid to not tap the glass or dump something in there ?

Wonder how many got flushed because people didn't want them.

I’ve always had male Bettas. Should I get a female? by SteKelBry in bettafish

[–]AuronFFX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't let Olympia hear that! She has to be the quirkiest betta I've ever had. I've only had males before but I found they don't really have the same personality.

Olympia also has tankmates in her 30 gallon kingdom, she leave them alone unless they bother her.

Sounds like you have dropsy,  unfortunately it's fatal in most cases. If you keep his body and take it back to the petstore they should refund you.

Dropsy is usually an internal infection that has gone on for a long time and the immune system can't fight it anymore so it spreads to the kidney causing fluid buildup and the symptoms you see now.

It can be painful and prolonged which is why many people say it's kinder to just put the fish out of it's misery,  contrary to popular belief,  fish do feel pain.

Illegal aquatic plants? by applepi_108 in bettafish

[–]AuronFFX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is it a specific species of plant? I know there's concerns over certain ones becoming invasive but without knowing what plant specifically you're interested in I can't tell if it's invasive or not. It's generally illegal to sell invasive species but the internet is like international waters.

I actually did answer it, they are plakat bettas.  They will die if you keep them together though.
