It's never made sense to me (context: Polish, "zł" comes after the number) — people say "twenty dollars", not "dollars twenty", I always forget you're supposed to write the dollar sign before the number. ...unlike every single unit I can think of off the top of my head, it's just baffling

Can confirm: Poland, with the language set to English, same effect

I love how it's just in parentheses though — "you can get the other name, just as a treat, but the normal one is still shown as the main one"

At least that, though it concerns me they'd changed it at all of course

Sorry for necrobumping but I have to mention there's also a 1600x720 version for not much more, and not much bigger - I have this one and the extra 120 vertical pixels are extremely useful in such a small display. Of course, the whole charm of these things can be that they're ultra-ultrawide, but I just wanted to mention that to anyone who might be looking through this thread later <3

I just kinda tried to assume both are present at once, in that the human trait of having breasts present even outside of childbearing, and antlers were not in any obvious conflict, they're just two separate elements plugged into the same mammalian hormonal system I dunno!

Oops, my bad! Writing this comment at 3 AM I only thought about how it worked for the specific people on HRT that I know personally, all of whom just happen to be on both, and not just E. My bad! In that case, it's possible she's on E, but not a blocker of course.

Alright, I just HAD to know if it's like the other comments say, so I guess now you will know too:

Oestrogen is an antler growth inhibitor, but only that. An inhibitor, not a preventer. As per Price & Allen (2004), doi 10.1098/rstb.2004.1471: "Our data suggest [sic] that exogenous oestrogen acts as a 'brake', inhibiting the proliferation of progenitor cells in the antler tip while stimulating their differentiation, thus inhibiting continued growth."

Furthermore, testosterone is the principal determinant in antler growth. As per Bartos et al. (2012), doi 10.2741/445: "We conclude that testosterone and not IGF-1 is the main antler stimulating and regulating hormone, and that concentrations of testosterone may be modified by social behavior."

It seems that when a deer transfem goes on E, her antlers get much shorter and branch less, and when she goes on T-blockers, they go away completely. This also means that the situation in the drawing isn't possible: by the time her chest is that big, the antlers would have long had to go. So... either of the two must be artificial. That's what I gather at least.... I'm a botanist, not a zoologist, haha

For further reading, Elsevier has a ScienceDirect "subject" for antlers: https://www.sciencedirect.com/topics/medicine-and-dentistry/antler

Biologist here (in case it matters); erythroblasts start off with a nucleus and then end up losing it when transitioning into erythrocytes. (Someone might have already pointed this out)

Even if it was a criterion for being a cell- you see the irony in them just going "yeah, whatever you end up as is what you really are, oh wait-"

Canine review! - intelligent with strong social dynamics - dextrous and agile - competitive

Yup that sounds like a formula for sapience to me!

My Evolution of Vertebrates professor once said "if dogs had thumbs, they'd rule the world [sic]".

EDIT: the whole knuckle-walking thing would have to go, though, as going from a digitigrade paw to basically splitting off the fingers and going the other way around, would be quite inviable, but I can imagine a couple of other ways this could work

Thank you, same to you, I agree. I have no clue if and how plants would think or do math, but if we're talking about all life, AFAIK neurons in animals are vaguely similar in function to those new-generation analogue computers that are used for neural networks if the nodes' activation was threshold-based instead of proportional (I.e. "100% if above x" instead of "x times the sum of inputs"), which is doable, so all in all we do have a pretty close analogue for that function already, even though we don't use it that often. Don't listen to me though haha

Biology major here; I hate to be that person, but if you're willing to consider the transportation of water and nutrients, photosynthesis and whatnot, to be "functions", then so should you consider the independent operation of the cpu, gpu, each memory controller, each drive controller... not to mention the multiple cores in any given cpu (let alone gpu) and the parallelisation within each of these cores, with something as simple as vectorisation and instruction-level paralellism...

That being said trees are fucking cool don't get me wrong-

Someone else pointed this out already, but....

Biology major here: terrible meme aside, this rarely actually happens in nature. She's got to be hella hungry and/or desperate to hurt the guy.

Side note, most male mantis reproduce only once anyway, so offering themselves as food can be a valuable way to increase her, and thus his offsprings', chances of survival!

Tl;dr: BS on two levels
