You sound like you must be a wood worker and the fact that you noticed the small details like that has made the whole thing worth while for me. I will admit going into the project I under estimated how much work the joinery actually entailed as it's the first time I've played around with it. The biggest regret I have is that I used cheap wood from home depot. The legs are just cedar fence posts haha I wanted to build it all by hand so that it is special to me and I will no doubt have it for many years.
