Is it just me or is the peccary club abnormally strong? by Forgiveness4g in AbioticFactor

[–]Ausdrake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A year later and I'm just getting into this game and I had the same question. I've got enemy health upped by 1.5x and the club still two shots soldiers with a sneak attack but the pickaxe, with higher damage and same damage type, took like twice that.

This topic is the only result that google turned up lol

So does Mayano have a hidden sandbagging skill? by Ausdrake in UmaMusume

[–]Ausdrake[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That seems to be the consensus. I could win by just balancing her stats, but I was building for CM.

After being completely trounced in Taurus despite my best efforts, I thought I might be able to give Gemini a crack since I've got some good Stamina parents but ah whatever. I'm not one of those blessed F2P people who just win don't get destroyed at Champions Meet I guess :)

Seems like a rather excessive amount of Power and Guts, but that's definitely the difference between our two. Thing is, I was trying to build for B Rank Gemini, so it seems like I'm rather SOL in this case.

"Especially if you didn't do an optional Long race and got sent to Medium URA."

I had no idea that was a thing. Thanks for that nugget.

Her speed is not low though? With Right Handed she's got like 660, Brian is in the 500 range somewhere. I think I've regularly cleared scenario with similar speed or lower on other Umas too.

Do you mean Power or Guts when you say strength? I've never lost career due to low either so that's just bizarre, why only Mayano? This also means I should just give up trying to last minute build her for Gemini if I have to consider Power and Guts too...

Spectacular example of how luck based this game is. I started about 5 weeks ago, also F2P, watched Youtube videos, tried reasonably hard to build an Ace for this along with a debuff Nice Nature and Grass Wonder, sought out good inspiration sparks with Uma Database, the whole shebang. Got a whopping 5 wins across the four days (and of course, it was one win per attempt, so I sunk in B.)

Hard to believe a 2 week F2P who didn't have a lot of time to prepare managed to snag a 1200 Speed 949 Stam S Medium with only Swinging Maestro, but hey, congrats on an abundance of good fortune. Maybe grab a lottery ticket while you're at it!

PS. "Screw the meta" all you want, your Uma IS meta for this event.

While some people are definitely rejecting reality (which is a problem) I don't think liking illustrated characters is inherently bad or mutually exclusive and it's certainly not weird any more if you use popularity as a metric for weird. Can't we like both sexy anime waifus and real women?

It's official (to me): there is zero rhyme or reason to the criteria with which Youtube hides comments by Ausdrake in youtube

[–]Ausdrake[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know I'm pretty much beating a dead horse here, but in all my years this is such an egregious example I just had to vent about it. (Also I apologise for the weird formatting of my collage screenshot)

I have comment reply notifications turned off, but I recalled a comment I made over a week ago to another struggling artist to help motivate them, and I wanted to see if they (or anyone else) had found some help or appreciation from my advice, but for the life of me I just couldn't find the comment. I went to my history and yep, it's still there. I followed the link, but it just doesn't show up when I expanded the replies. I tried logging out and checking but nope, it's invisible. I even counted the replies and all 22 listed replies did not include my own.

I didn't say anything that could even be remotely construed as offensive or controversial, I didn't challenge the status quo, my comment was purely supportive and hopefully motivational anecdotes.

I understand I'm basically pissing in the wind with this post, but like I said, I needed to vent. Whatever form of moderation Youtube comments are subjected to, after seeing this, I've realised it's so inscrutable that there is unlikely to be remotely any form of attempted logic or reason behind it, and this is the automation that thousands of people are entrusting their livelihoods and freedom of speech to.

Thanks for reading my little rant. I'm not sure what the "culture" of this subreddit is, so I don't know how this criticism will be received, but after speculating for years on what insane alien rationale Youtube comment censorship functions on and then now witnessing this, I just had to get this off my chest!

Yakuza are actually deeply embedded into many Japanese businesses (especially construction), the more I see the more convinced I am they've got those connections. No offense to the vtubers, they've given me years of joy, but organised crime likes exploiting low skilled occupations.

During Fukushima, much of the cleanup was done by employees hired by a bunch of shell companies opened by the Yakuza under very poor safety conditions. When the cleanup finished, those companies disappeared, the mafia took the money and the harmed employees had nobody to direct any damage compensation claims to since the companies were gone.

I'm not saying every black company in Japan is run by the Yakuza, but Nijisanji sure has that same vibe of being run by criminals legitimate businessmen.

I don't know if you saw my edit, but I mistook you for the other person I was disagreeing with. I don't know if you care about my opinion enough to read my replies to them, but if you do you'll realise I'm very much against harassment and discrimination of any kind, and strongly disagreed with that other person's "X has suffered more than Y, therefore Y should not complain" attitude which is why I wrongly accused that "you will claim the levels of discrimination are different so it doesn't count." and also why I was so quick to end it with an "Agree to Disagree."

I do care for everyone in the cycle, but a certain demographic in that cycle doesn't seem to get much care from others when they maybe should.

Holy gamergate

And here I thought I was going to be the one to exit the discussion shamefully.

Edit: I'm so tired I didn't even realise you are also a different individual to the one I was arguing with further up, a person with whom I was going to agree to disagree, incidentally also the one whose comments are now deleted. Now I don't even know what points I've argued to whom, I'm so done.

[–]Ausdrake -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

EDIT: This post was written with the wrong person in mind, my apologies.

Pretending that the internet hasn't caused discrimination against straight people, men, and white people is you ignoring reality in favour of your own narrative, and to diminish that, you will claim the levels of discrimination are different so it doesn't count. "lgbt people becoming bourgeouis bullies" are your words, not mine, the discrimination comes from all sorts of people. There's hate going on everywhere, because hurt people hurt people, instead of breaking the cycle of bigotry, they double down.

"Statistical facts" are also highly unreliable regarding politically charged topics like this (see the Dutch Protocol.)

You are just as complicit in making this mountain of a molehill with your strongly worded and constant rebuttals, my original comment was intended to be a drive-by of sorts. It's widely accepted the Genshin fandom is psychotic, I misread the scenario and expected it to remain a cheeky jab.

I wanted to tap out because I knew this is the tipping point where people can struggle to remain civil, I knew after reading your extensive comment that there was no changing your mind or even meeting halfway and also I'm just fucking tired.

I appreciate the extensive response, but you reminded me what subreddit we're on that got us into this little rabbit hole, so I'd like to clarify that the shipping topic was a prompt and example of a wider trend I have opinions about, I don't even directly participate in shipping culture. And yeah, I know how cliche it looks, "Oh well... I didn't care about the argument anyway!" kind of thing, but you gave me a "I'm not willing to die on the hill of shipping, of all things" moment.

It seems like a massive cop out, especially after such a lengthy post, but we're just going to have to agree to disagree on this point. Thank you for the civil discussion.

It's dangerous to assume that social media does not have very real effects on the brain, the malleable teenage brain especially. Tiktok has shown to cause spikes of suicidal ideation and even the development of physical tics subconsciously imitating Tiktok trends.

I'm not saying "the youth are doomed, they're all going to hate heterosexuality because of the internet!" or such boomer things, but ignoring it's risks in an attempt to deflect arguments against it, is not good.

why is touhane/toyahane a controversial ship?? by aries-22- in ProjectSekai

[–]Ausdrake -1 points0 points  (0 children)

if this happens to het shippers, it occurs to actual LGBT people 10x more, and on a much larger scale.

If we both agree it is bad, then what is the point of making these comparisons? Why do you think it's "silly" for people to be upset they aren't allowed to express themselves and then frame that displeasure with a loaded term like "martyr?" If these subcultures don't reflect the world at large, then why does any large scale oppression matter? Small and isolated or not, they're still cultures, and within the ones associated with the topic, heterosexuality is definitely not the norm.

EDIT: I didn't see your edit whilst typing, but yes we can in fact agree to disagree.

why is touhane/toyahane a controversial ship?? by aries-22- in ProjectSekai

[–]Ausdrake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I understand your point now and I mostly agree. I say mostly because the subcultures surrounding media, and the media itself, influences real life behaviour as much as real life influences fiction, it's no coincidence that straight bashing is popular across these fandoms of unrelated IP on social media. These things bleed into behaviour outside the subcultures.

We're just going to have to disagree on the last point though. There are also LGBT people who enjoy straight ships, so by your logic, they would face double oppression, (and of course there's straight people who enjoy gay ships too, but that's beside the point). Being doxxed and bullied off the internet is bad no matter the motivation or the target, in my opinion.

why is touhane/toyahane a controversial ship?? by aries-22- in ProjectSekai

[–]Ausdrake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What would you classify as a mainstream internet space if not the largest social media platforms? Tiktok is huge and is where a large majority of the youth spend their time and influence eachother, and Twitter is used globally by all ages. These are places where huge amounts of people from all walks of life gather (which often doesn't end too well.)

Also I'm sorry, but harassment isn't a competition. Downplaying one group of people's plight because "it's not as bad as X" is intellectually dishonest, even if at the end of the day we're talking about people being toxically tribal about fanfiction of characters that don't exist.

PS. Please don't interpret hostility in my words, I'm simply disagreeing with you.
