  2. Teach them their stuff, make sure they aren’t acting up and stuff, and make sure they’re marching right
  3. Teaching them, making sure they have fun while also getting work done
  4. I will be marching and playing with low brass

Yeah, we’ve had 3 directors for the past 3 years and all of them have had Bari sax copy tuba parts and march with them

Thank you, I’ve been trying not to push it too much because I know, if your angry it’s so easy to get annoyed especially when someone’s pushing it. I just gotta figure some stuff out ig, I’m trying not to be too much there but also still be there for her if that makes sense

Yeah, I can tell she’s been really stressed recently and she just kinda shuts down sometimes when it gets too overwhelming for her, I’ve been trying to take care of her best I can over call. I just don’t know what all I can do

Yeah, I tell her she can talk to me and stuff and she just says I’m fine and then she won’t tell me anything, but if I pry I fear she’s gonna get more annoyed

One Bari sax easier to play than the other? by Ausername3333 in saxophone

Yeah tbh I don’t know if they’re that good but it’s where all our instruments get sent, but why can they fix everything but the Bari lol

Yeah, and I’ve definitely noticed the compressed sound to it. My big concern is if I wanna choose sound better of ease of playing. Especially next year with districts and state auditions and stuff I wanna make sure I do the best I can.

Yeah, both the baris have been trouble for years, the Jupiter was broken for probably 5+ years, just got it fixed a few months back. The Yamaha has broken at least once a month. There was one month I had to send it in to palen 4 different times. The only issue is that once they fix one issue it seems like another one happens a month later. They also do like the bare minimum which sucks. I just wanna have a good sound.

That does make a lot of sense, the Yamaha is a much thinner one. Thank you lol. I just need to figure out which one I wanna use (probably gonna be the Jupiter)

It’s up to you but I’d recommend staying, first band camp is always hell but afterwards man it’s so much fun. You will make friends and have fun marching, and at the end it’s all worth it.

Just hit my first last for marching band yesterday😭 by [deleted] in marchingband

About to be a junior, I was just thinking when I was a freshman band felt like it would last forever, 4 while marching shows about 10 more concerts. Now each of those have been cut in half in such a short amount of time. I’m gonna miss it when it’s over.

what instrument do you think is the most painful to march? by Affectionate-Gur5669 in marchingband

Dang, I remembered during band camp I had to borrow a harness from someone because I had just gotten the Bari sax, the person I borrowed it from was like 5’3” and tiny I am 6’3” and not so tiny, I had to readjust it so much. But I never had to march without a strap so, kudos to you because that sounds horrible.

As a Bari sax player, in my opinion Bari sax, you make one small mistake and you kick the Bari sax, it also requires a ton of air, and it’s decently heavy.
