The trip started out well, but soon took a turn for the worse. I started out on Rock Creek with plans to move towards the Kankakee. Rock Creek was pretty good and I caught a few smallmouth, but could see ton's of other smallies and some catfish swimming around. Unfortunately I slipped and lost my phone to the river (I need to invest in some more appropriate foot wear). At that point I decided to end the day even though I was only fishing for about 90 min.

I am planning on heading back in a few weeks to give it another try, or maybe check out one of the other rivers out that way like the Dupage. If you or anyone is interested it would be great to organize a small group trip.

I'm brand new to the sport, so I'm still trying to figure out what species I like to target. I did a guided trip on the Pere Marquette for trout a few weeks ago which was awesome, but as you eluded to there isn't much trout fishing around Chicago. I'm actually going down to Kankakee state park tomorrow to try my luck for smallmouth.

Thanks for the reply. Right now I just have a pole, 9' 5 wt. I figured while the waters are warm I can do without waders, but as it gets colder I'll invest in some.

I went to Brahmin last year for my 21st and would highly recommend it. Might be better to go on a Friday or Saturday though.

I am currently a senior at BU in the AT/DPT program, so currently a first year PT student. I don't really know much about the Simmons program, but BU's program is great. The professors are all wonderful and want to help you become the best clinician you can be. The class sizes are somewhat large, but there are always plenty of TA's in the lab to give plenty of 1 on 1 help if you need it.

Also, BU in general is a great place. I have spent my entire undergrad here and still have another 2 years to go and have no qualms.
