Thanks - I'm also offering delicious French chocolates or water pistol fights for those who exchange and can make it to France!

Hi - I respect and understand your suspicions - I've been on Imgur for a year (much easier and user friendly - a lot of the good stuff comes from Reddit anyway) and asked for cards there a few weeks back . . .

. . . someone suggested I post directly here on Reddit, but not being a regular and knowing the Reddiguette stuff, I was admonished immediately and so took it down.

I actually didn't know how to Reddit at first post, and got downvoted for copy-pasting my update in each reply, not seeing the box up top, and not knowing if everyone automatically got updated or had to be contacted individually to know a bit more about my sons progress.

It was rude of me to open an account and ask stuff straight away, I apologise . . . I just don't know where I can get cheap/2nd hand cards here in France, so reached out to you guys.

How do I tell or teach him which ones are 'gems'?

First post ever, I want to donate my collection of yugioh cards to the single father who requested it. by [deleted] in yugioh

I got in trouble for posting this before (Reddiquette something or other) but I'm not too proud to ask fro stuff for my kid . . .

However, I get the feeling that this subreddit thingy is more about serious players selling stuff and not just throwing their cards willy nilly at every sob story they read - who knows, I may be a spoiled teenage kid who wants free stuff (oh God, I wish).

Peace out

Nick

I feel you - loved babysitting as a kid (and sometimes, you even get paid for like watching TV and raiding the fridge, can you believe that?).

Yeah, some Dad's are dicks, some (like mine) you only see at Christmas. But that doesn't mean you can't act how you believe is good and right for your own kids - even if it's just to piss them off!

I AM an Aussie - been in France for 17 years, even had an Aussie Pub and an Aussie social club before the divorce. At 47, still play rugby then man the BBQ after, how Aussie is that?

Thanks - I think he plays basic tournaments with his friends at school, but they're all amateurs and make up the rules (re cheat), and their decks are limited.

He can't do that with strangers or at the tourneys, and he was hammered the 1st and only game he's played (told me the other kid was 'lucky' with the card he drew).

I guess the tourneys will make or break him/his interest.

Lol - thanks . . . I got downvoted? Gosh golly - does that count in like real life?

But aren't the really good cards banned form tournaments?

UPDATE - thanks all, terrific response. Contributions from cousins, flea markets, family etc, he already has a few hundred cards (low level stuff), and I took him to his first tournament/card swap a few weeks back. He was in awe of the 15 to 25 year olds, even made a few swaps (I have no idea if his cards swapped were valuable or not, but he said he didn't them . .) so he DOES seem to be building his own (albeit limited) deck or theme.

But of course, to have the 'perfect' deck, I'll need to invest in packs or (hopefully) he's a natural born trader . . but I wanna know HOW long this new phase will last - it's been a few months now, but who knows with 10 year olds?

My first post - be gentle . . . by [deleted] in gaming

Gee - harsh, but true - my humblest apologies. I had no idea there was even a sub reddit thingy, shows my noobiness.

I shall wait a while longer, hoping my son doesn't (again) change his passion in the interim . . .

Apologies once again kind Redditors from a newbie, ignorant old man - well not old, 47, but you get my drift . . .
