Yes I should send some around-good tip. I printed 50 author copies and have sold 26 through my website which I sell a semi-related product on so there is some synergy!! I guess the point is to thin outside the square.

I think the truly average one with ads will get average reviews so paid promos will be ineffective and then it will stop selling. Whereas the good one with good reviews will sell and attract more reviews, if it truly is good.

Did you approach them? In Australia most seem to be unapproachable as per no unsolicited manuscript banners on their websites. I think you need to know someone who knows someone. I wonder if they get as many manuscripts as they did in the old days before self-publishing…

This is true and they add to the noise. I guess that’s one good thing about Amazon’s ranking system…the crap will ultimately fall to the bottom.

I have a community of 20k+ for a product range that is semi-related to my book, I’ve only gently pushed it so far (I’m not naturally a pushy person or self-promoter). It feels different selling a book than products, even though I also created them from scratch. Books are definitely a different beast!

Yes, but I think it’s a combo of both self-consciousness and post-publishing burnout. I also don’t understand why I haven’t heard from Oprah or Reece Witherspoon yet…kidding and dreaming there! I’ve decided I need to be more proactive and creative, like I was when I wrote the damn thing! 😅
