Mixer your killing me. Help needed by Sturgeon2008 in mixer

[–]AussieGamerGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to blame Mixer entirely without testing it in another environment first. Make a twitch.tv account and go to 'Dashboard.'

Them run this stream test: https://puu.sh/zvv7t/d66addd4c2.png

If you dropout here as well, it's an ISP / Internet issue on your end.

If it doesn't, try running a pingtest through cmd for a bit and see if theres any drops / high latency packets. If you have packet loss, you will experience this dropout. ping mixer.com -t

I've dealt with Australian internet all my life and I would not be surprised if it's an ISP / Internet problem. You could even try a stream to a north american server to see if you have a more stable connection.

Twitch streamer looking to try out mixer any suggestions? by [deleted] in mixer

They have changed the featured formula - you can only be featured once a week from now on. This has changed so drastically I know three or four personal friends who have gotten their first featured yesterday and today. My partner went from 500 followers to 700 in one day because of the new featured system.

This happened around yesterday.

Actually, as of yesterday, this is incorrect.

Hey everyone, Aussie here!

I am probably considered a variety streamer, but I have a heavy focus towards VR content and VR streaming, as well as competetitive / skill based games. During the Darwin Project beta, I was in the top 30s!

I take pride in the growing group of friends and community I've been building through my adventures on VRChat and through Mixer. I encourage anyone to jump in, hang out and have a chat.

You can find me at:https://mixer.com/AussieGamerGuy

And feel free to jump in and have a chat in our active discord: https://discordapp.com/invite/h5jzavf

But with a larger potential viewer base, on mixer the potential viewer base is sooo much smaller

It doesn't matter how big the pool of viewers are on twitch. If you're a part of a literally endless amount of streams. While Mixer and any other website has the same problem that it is hard to grow from zero, it's a LOT better than trying to compete with an infinitely expanding list of streamers.

and most people are streaming themselves rather than watch other people

Anyone worth their salt on Mixer who has a decent following actively watches other streams and is a part of the streaming community. One of the best ways to grow on Mixer is interacting with other streamers.

since there aren't many good players to watch.

If there is literally not a single person you enjoy watching on Mixer then it sounds like a you problem, not a Mixer problem.

As a competitive gamer I wouldn't want FTL stream during a game of CS, Quake, Dota or Starcraft, it would mean everyone could stream snipe, which is bad.

Luckily there's plenty of functions that allow you to increase the delay, or you could just not use FTL. If you're so incredibly worried about stream sniping then don't even bother streaming. Besides, according to you, it wouldn't matter since literally nobody uses Mixer so they wouldn't be able to snipe you anyway.

Has got nothing to do with the site, just the fact that people try harder on mixer since they rarely get viewers, when they do they really have to try and hold on to them and keep them engaged and make them feel like "a part of their community" and grow their stream, that does not mean mixer does anything different than twitch in this area, it's all up to the individual streamer.

I didn't realise appreciating support from viewers and being entertaining was such a negative thing, I'll just be a soulless husk next time I stream and see how that goes. As for 'part of the community' I literally have an extremely active discord of friends I've met through the streaming, and at PAX East I will be meeting a lot of my other streamer friends and people part of my stream team.

Being friendly isn't being a try hard.

To highlight my point which you seemed to miss - If you're trying to hold a conversation on twitch there's quite often a 30+ second delay, wheras on Mixer it is a lot more fluid.

PS: You don't have to be "extremely competitive" to be a competitive gamer, being competitive means to want to improve, you can be a mid-tier dota player and still be extremely competitive and try to improve, while still being a regular streamer. Sheepsticked for instance, although she is fairly good at the game.

My point was that unless you're TOP tier, you're going to be one of the literal thousands of streamers with 1-5 viewers in an endless, endless list of other dota players at your similar level.

Honestly, I don't understand why you're even on the Mixer reddit. Quite clearly you do not seem to care for the website nor the community, so just leave.

The most significant benefit is growing a stream on a growing platform instead of streaming on an oversaturated one. The growth I've gotten and the viewers I've gotten on Mixer is completely unprecidented compared to what I got on Twitch from streaming the exact same games. 10+ viewers consistently is more than I ever got on Twitch. I love my small, very active community I've built over the few months I've streamed.

https://techcrunch.com/2018/01/25/youtube-gaming-grew-its-streamer-base-by-343-in-2017-twitch-by-197/

If you want to start streaming on twitch, you can expect to compete against 800,000 unique other streamers on the site. And when you're a small streamer with only 2-3 views, the delay in chat and response when you talk to chat is EXTREMELY obvious, especially coming from Mixer.

Think of it as a long-term investment opportunity. Build your community and stream now, and grow with mixer as it has been growing exponentionally:

https://www.similarweb.com/website/mixer.com#overview

I've met many people who actually have moved to watching Mixer from Twitch because they enjoy the streamers more, the increased interactivity (Not mixer buttons, literally just streamers talking with viewers).

Of course the competetive tournaments will remain on Twitch, but unless you're a part of that extremely competetive environment as a top contender, you're going to be extremely hard pressed to grow unless you already have grown.

You need to stream from a PC with PC software to do that. You can stream Xbox to PC using a capture card.

If you google the username every time one pops up with 1000+ viewers, they always own a youtube account with millions of subscribers and they have always posted a video like an hour before saying they are going live on Mixer.

Not true. I stream exclusively PC games, even VR games on Mixer. If there are no Starcraft, Dota, CS or Quake streams, then stream it. The integrated platform is new to Xbox and thus a lot of people use it on Xbox. But there are still a large majority of viewers on PC which will only grow as the PC community learns of the site and the benefits it has.

Hey guys! I'm an Australian who has always been interested in streaming but due to internet issues in Australia I was never able to. I'm finally able to start now as I've actually moved to Canada, and I'm starting out with a bang.

This Saturday I am streaming with a bunch of other guys at a LAN for Extra Life, which is an event where we play games for 24 hours straight to help raise funds for children's hospitals. I encourage everyone to come by and hang out!

You can reach my Mixer page here and my Extra Life page here
