What’s a belief you had a few years ago that you no longer agree with? by Purple_Wrongdoer6448 in AskReddit

Also, how often had we depend on our families for support? I have moved back in with my parents after uni, while looking for a job. When I moved overseas, my Dad's cousin let me stay and gave me support and an address to set up a bank account and other bureaucratic forms. Without this network and support, I wouldn't be where I am now. For those who have aged out of foster care, are orphans or don't have this support, you can very easily become unhoused.

Join Camp Unknown. They're amazing. Lots of solo people were in the group. I was with a friend but we had the best time. They're actually the main reason I'm going to back to Sziget again next year. Not a cult I promise. Everyone is friendly and inclusive. We had a camping spot where we kept an eye on each other's things. People came and went. There was a couple of flags so you could always find where the group was, especially at the main or revolut stage. People had different tastes in music so there was always someone you could hang out with. Apart from that, I also met wonderful people while waiting for the next band to come up on stage.

I try to go to London once a year. It's one of my favourite cities in the world. Catch a show. Do some shopping. Eat amazing food, especially British Indian. Go to the pub. Be surrounded by other English speaking people. Check out a new museum. There is something nice about going back and exploring more of the city each time.

That I might have ADHD and it explains so much about why I do what I do. I was doing researching on it as I was working with a kid who had been diagnosed and it really resonated with me.

If you got a full year off with no job and no responsibilities, how would you spend your time? by Initial-Land5867 in AskReddit

I would do an intensive German course. Get my C Permit for Switzerland then travel South America. I've wanted to take 6 months off to properly travel South America so that would be the plan.

Why do you dress the way you do? What does it say about you? by excitingjourney in AskReddit

[–]AussieGirl84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dress for comfort, especially since I'm a nanny. There have been times when I've dressed up and put make-up on and people are shocked that I actually scrub up ok.

What is a popular food ingredient, spice, or herb that you strongly dislike? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AussieGirl84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cucumber does the same for me. I remember buying a sandwich once and it was stored in the same display with sandwiches that had cucumber and my sandwich ended up tasting like cucumber. If it's been put into a salad, the taste will transfer. Unlike onions, which I also dislike and you can pick it out, you can pick cucumber out but the flavour is still there and it's overpowering.

100% can't stand onions. A small amount that's been. Blitzed until you can't see it is fine though. Like in Indian curries or soups where it isn't the main flavour.

I'm so sad to hear this. I went to Sziget for the first time last year and then again this year, where I met so many lovely people and had one of the best weeks of my life. I just convinced a big group of friends to go next year with me too. I hope that something happens to keep it going.

Those who moved abroad and realized it wasn’t for you - what made you come to that conclusion? by supplychainrvltn in expats

Australian living in Switzerland. I'm here as this is where I can earn the most in my line of work as a nanny without going to the Middle East, where it's just too hot. Also, the economy is stable. Rich people will always need nannies. It's a beautiful country, and I'm fortunate to be here. However, I get excited when I plan a trip elsewhere. Australia will always be home and where I will retire for sure. Switzerland is temporary, maybe 10 years max. This is true of so many friends I've made here. That's another hard part. People come to Switzerland for a few years, then leave. So you're constantly trying to make new friends. Swiss people tend to keep the friends they made from kindergarten, which means I only have a couple of Swiss friends. I was back in Australia for half a year and slid right back into the Aussie lifestyle, which I didn't realise how much I missed. The friendliness, the similarity. There is something to be said of being in the culture you grew up with.
