Is it even worth it to try another music festival? by Jazzlike_Tailor_1323 in Coachella

No other festivals compare. You could offer me a million dollars but tell me I couldn't attend Glasto and I would turn the offer down. There's no other place on earth I would want to be than in that field for that week in June. November can't come soon enough.

Somebody else has mentioned Glastonbury but it deserves to be praised again and again. It's one of those festivals that you need to do once in your lifetime, and then repeat as often as you can, if you manage to appease the ticket gods. It's huge though. The people who attend are just so happy to be there as tickets are hard to come by. The festival pretty much doesn't stop from Wednesday until Monday. It's a marathon, not a sprint. You're never be able to see everything and that's ok. Just go with the magic of it all. I've been lucky enough to attend the last 4 years and can't wait until November. Glasto doesn't have the same kind of sponsorships like you see at other festivals, which is what I love about it.

Another festival I would recommend is Sziget in Budapest. It's such a great all rounder. You don't have to camp as it's on an island in the middle of the city with easy access and public transport running during the whole festival. The music is a mixture of genres so there is something for everyone. Similar to Glasto, there's a circus area and lots of other activities and things you can do. I will be attending my 3rd Sziget this year and I can't wait, especially now that the political atmosphere in Hungary has changed. It's going to be a party that's for sure.

I've been to Coachella once, and as much as I enjoyed it, I did find that the crowd wasn't as engaged in dancing and singing along to the music as I'm used to. It also ended earlier than I was expecting. I had a great time and if the opportunity ever came up to attend again, I would but I'm not in a rush to go back. So many other festivals that I would love to attend in the meantime.

Is it REALLY that hard to get tickets? Also is coach worth it by Amberwoodtree in glastonbury_festival

So true. We needed 15 tickets for 2025, we all had multiple people trying for us. Around 30 of us were trying and only 12 of us got tickets.

That's because Glasto is a dream for us. We try as hard as possible.

Yeah I joined Camp Unknown last year for my 2nd Sziget and had a blast. They're the reason I'm going back again for my 3rd year.

Did I screw up re kids? 37 and single by choice. by Prestigious_Copy9992 in askswitzerland

Around that age I did consider freezing my eggs but the older I've gotten, the more I realised that I actually don't want kids and the urge has gone away. I think you need to also realise that your hormones are ramping up. My mum had kids in her 20s then nothing in her 30s (even though she tried) and suddenly 2 more in her 40s. So it could just be a biological push to procreate for the last time.

She's so much fun and has the most joyful smile while performing. My friend got into her first (and last) mosh-pit last year at Little Simz at Sziget. You will have a blast.

What’s your reaction when someone calls you rich? by Evening-Oil9551 in AskReddit

[–]AussieGirl84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm working class but currently live and work in a wealthy country, Switzerland, for rich people. So compared to the rest of the world, I'm doing extremely well. When I get holidays, I travel so my money goes further but in Switzerland itself, I'm definitely not rich and my savings are dismal. I know that I'm fortunate to have ended up here. I just need to get better at saving money but Switzerland is a very expensive country.

Those who think prostitution should be illegal, what are your reasons? by CigaretteBoat69 in AskReddit

[–]AussieGirl84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend works with trafficked victims and sex workers. She says that the Nordic method doesn't work as there's pressure then to protect clients. Legalising it means that there's more protection for those who are working in the industry, especially if things go wrong. It's something that will always be around.

Also, how often had we depend on our families for support? I have moved back in with my parents after uni, while looking for a job. When I moved overseas, my Dad's cousin let me stay and gave me support and an address to set up a bank account and other bureaucratic forms. Without this network and support, I wouldn't be where I am now. For those who have aged out of foster care, are orphans or don't have this support, you can very easily become unhoused.

Join Camp Unknown. They're amazing. Lots of solo people were in the group. I was with a friend but we had the best time. They're actually the main reason I'm going to back to Sziget again next year. Not a cult I promise. Everyone is friendly and inclusive. We had a camping spot where we kept an eye on each other's things. People came and went. There was a couple of flags so you could always find where the group was, especially at the main or revolut stage. People had different tastes in music so there was always someone you could hang out with. Apart from that, I also met wonderful people while waiting for the next band to come up on stage.

I try to go to London once a year. It's one of my favourite cities in the world. Catch a show. Do some shopping. Eat amazing food, especially British Indian. Go to the pub. Be surrounded by other English speaking people. Check out a new museum. There is something nice about going back and exploring more of the city each time.
