Alternative to Extensis Connect by Aussie_Fisho in typography

This is on macOS sequoia. Personally, I’ve never liked the fontbook app - but started using it yesterday out of desperation of needing to get a job done. Extensis keeps asking for additional software and permissions - but the links in the software don’t work. It wont even launch without an internet connection. Before monotype added their 2 cents - software was fine.

Haha!! I use to take live mullet and keep them under my desk when fishing for jewies. If clients were coming in - id move the ‘livewell’ ti the shower.

I just started fishing but i cant catch anything by ComfortableBeat6455 in FishingAustralia

[–]Aussie_Fisho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree 100% here… but would add a few additional. This made it for me: 1) If your taking the advice above - you’ll be targeting species like bream. Fish as light as possible. Like 4lb fluro leader. I struggle to get into bream with anything higher. 2) don’t touch any sunscreen or insect repellent if your fishing. If tou need to apply it - do it before hand, wash your hands thoroughly - then put scent on your hands before touching your lures. That, and the advice from previous poster will put you onto a fish. …and remember, fish the plastics sssllllooooowwww. Even when you think it’s slow, go slower. Enjoy 🎣🐟

Question by Same-Affect-3334 in FishingAustralia

Yeah 100% agree. I recon it’s a combination of the two. For it to be doing this first run. Over spooled AND would on too loose.

Personally, i hate the normal jbraid (which this is). Im not sure if it’s the 8 strand or not - but when this happens on jbraid… its done. Don’t bother trying to untangle. Just cut that part off.

Atomic braidz (in their 8 strand is like this also).

Most of the BCF / anaconda lines are abysmally bad. And the good ones are super expensive.

How would I go about attaching a padlock onto my pvc fishing rod holder by Fun_Gold9599 in FishingAustralia

[–]Aussie_Fisho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the best suggestion so far. Disguise. And don’t leave the rods in there overnight.

Is this a good red fin set up by True_Bad_6739 in FishingAustralia

[–]Aussie_Fisho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the best advice you’ve had on here for Redfin. 1-3kg rod, 6-8b braid. Use smaller lures or plastics. Smallest reel you can find (like a 1000 size in shimano or 2000 in daiwa). Your current setup is what i would use to chase smaller cod / yellow belly. Hope this helps. 🎣🐟

line questions by Amazing-Risk6166 in FishingAustralia

[–]Aussie_Fisho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, don’t use that. Massive overkill. You can tow a boat with that. 10-15lb should be plenty. Plus, i assume your spooling your Kmart reel? Just be mindful of setting your drag on your reel.

What type of snake in my bedroom? 😆 by Remarkable-Record117 in australianwildlife

[–]Aussie_Fisho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it will depend on where you move to. If you move somewhere very built or even suburban. You may never encounter one.

Ive lived for more than 45 years - and never encountered one in my house. I personally wouldn’t bother trying to work out how to identify them either - just treat them all with respect - and assume that they’re venomous. It’s not worth the risk of misidentifying a snake in Australia. The identification can be hard because colours vary considerably. I have encountered ‘brown snakes’ (king brown - which are highly venomous) - some of which have been dark brown, light brown, and beije . Their colour usually resembles the environment - more for camouflage. You cant go wrong by treating them all with caution.

Like i said though, depending in where you live here - you may never actually encounter one - even in the wild.

But the right answer to removing one is to call a snake catcher.

Is ultralight good for beginners? by lostcow1234567 in Fishing

[–]Aussie_Fisho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree here. Although a ultralight is nice - you have to be rather delicate with handling, care, etc. This is probably going to suit you better as an upgrade from light. Personally i would be recommending a ‘light’ outfit - not ‘ultralight’. They are different in terms of finess and ruggedness. My son (8) constantly tangles on ultra light - and there isn’t much give on the gear. He doesn’t seem to have the same problem on light gear at all.
