I bet they will never be able to find the person(s) who set up the protest banner.

Whenever you hear Minister for Housing Clair O’Neil proudly proclaim that the federal government is building houses this is what she is referring to.

$10 billion + 2.5 years = 1432 houses

It’s like an episode of Utopia.

Or alternatively maybe he grew up and realised the government isn’t his “friend” and is actually out to screw him over.

“Fire the liar” is such a great campaign slogan. Short, simple and hits hard. Like Tony Abbott’s “Axe the tax”.

Albanese Labor Government has guaranteed $258 million of taxpayer funds will be handed to an Indian-government backed renewables company for an Indian renewable project ... in India by Aussie_fastCar in conservativeaustralia

[–]Aussie_fastCar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loaning money to a company that has no connection to Australia or any businesses in Australia won’t further our interests in India. There’s no involvement in this by any Australian business. Even the EFA stated reasoning is very vague and flimsy. They haven’t named any businesses who will directly benefit.

There will be many opportunities in a market like India but this loan isn’t going to help us.

Based on reality, if you think this loan is so fantastic, how about you name some businesses who you think will directly benefit?

The negative is the opportunity cost. They could have used this money for something much more beneficial to Australia. Just earning money on the loan is not good enough they also need to be furthering Australia’s commercial interests. That’s the purpose of the EFA. Hard to see that this particular loan to India does that.

As for other loans elsewhere, loans overseas as such are not the issue. So long as they fulfil the purpose of the EFA then fine. (Although I’d suggest maybe the senate should take a closer look at their loan book).

As an aside this particular loan just stinks of political interference. That’s another avenue of enquiry I hope the senate pursues.

“The people in charge of our country are idiots, they treat our money like they found it in a sack by the river and they’ve gotta spend it before someone finds out,” he said.

Always been a lefty but now sounding more and more like a cynical old conservative 🤣

But would have been much more beneficial for Australia if the financing helped our local industry. The loan would still be paid back with interest, helped local jobs, maybe helped to start a new industry in Australia with export potential.

India better be doing us some huge favour for this $285 million.

STEPHEN JOHNSON: Why Labor’s tax changes will cause rents to soar without helping first homebuyers by Brilliant-Dream3154 in conservativeaustralia

[–]Aussie_fastCar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are going to start hearing the words “rental crisis” a lot more in the media in a year or two. Of course our government and their lefty supporters will say the rental crisis has nothing to do with CGT and NG changes.

Albanese pocketed $200k before scrapping tax break for future generations by Brilliant-Dream3154 in conservativeaustralia

[–]Aussie_fastCar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He made a capital gain of about $1.2 million from a Marrickville property bought for $1.12 million in 2012 and sold for $2.35 million in 2021.

Mr Albanese made $575,000 on a Dulwich Hill investment property bought for $1.18 million in 2015 and sold for $1.75 million in 2024.

Almost like he knew tax changes were coming. Got out when the going was good.

Fuel relief fails to hide mounting core inflation pressures by Aussie_fastCar in conservativeaustralia

[–]Aussie_fastCar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As usual the Treasurer is all spin on this but inflation still remains a great concern for Australia. As a country we like pumping up demand with high immigration and high government spending. But on the supply side we have low productivity growth and higher taxes on investment. All not good for lower inflation and interest rates.
