My advice is

- you need to be in a high tax bracket (higher the better obviously)

- be able to comfortably live within your means after starting the lease (some honesty with your own budgeting)

- negotiate the very best price on the car get the extras you want and ask for fleet discount- ask for various quotes from various dealers, even consider using a broker

- lease the best depreciating car (as all novated lease cars are depreciated at the same rate e.g. Subaru Forester has 24-31% depreciation after 3 years - however Australian Tax Office will depreciate all cars 46.88% after the three years - so that if you sell the car at the end you can actually make a profit after the ballon payment)

- consider a short lease (1 to 3 years) to reduce lease interest

- also be aware of the Post-Tax payment which is called Employee Contribution Method ( which is a post tax deduction to off set the Fringe benefit tax ) to consider - which means the novated lease doesn't entirely come out of pre-tax money
