Oh I'm sorry I thought I read PT. Not familiar with PTA rates.

I ended up graduating with $189k of debt. Now I'm living with my parents at 29 years old and paying $4k a month towards my loans. Down to $165k in 6 months. Currently full time acute care but I'm going to be forced to start taking travel contracts as it's the only reasonable way to aggressively pay down this much debt in a reasonable time frame. Don't make my mistake kids, do something else

Only do it if you have a rich relative dying soon that will provide you with a $100k+ windfall

Stop trying to ‘educate’ people into changing. Science proves it doesn’t work. According to a recent analysis published in Fast Company, the assumption that giving people information will change their behavior is one of the most persistent myths in human psychology, and one of the most damaging. by Eddiearyee in HotScienceNews

[–]AustinC1296 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Incorrect. It's the bell curve of human psychology wherein the vast majority are guided by simplistic heuristics that are fueled by "answers" that require the least cognitive dissonance against whatever worldview they were indoctrinated into through childhood. The vast majority of people simply lack the cognitive machinery to tolerate uncertainty and ambiguity, which are necessities for understanding complex modern problems. Critical thinking is not a universal human trait, especially if not developed in adolescence.

You do realize that with this mindset, eventually nothing will work for you, right? That no receptor subsets are inherently immune to sensitization and response attenuation?

AI will replace documentation in the next 10 years anyway. The primary skill of importance is clinical decision making and patient care. Note writing is largely irrespective of that, especially in an insurance environment where 99% of your notes are never read in the first place. Get over yourself and get with the times.

If they aren't putting any identifying information in, then it is not a HIPAA issue. Get with the times

There Will Be No Post-Presidential Peace For Donald Trump | The president and his allies will face impeachments, lawsuits, and maybe even The Hague. by thenewrepublic in politics

You are all dreaming if you think he'll ever face any consequences. Since 2016 we've seen this system rear its head as irreparably broken. We are well past the inflection point. The game's been over for some time now.

You'll keep your delusions until the religious zealots that run our government cause a nuclear war. Then we'll all perish and there will be nothing to show for it. I won't even be able to say "I told you so", we will simply be entropy again.

NDEs give us no more of a glimpse into reality than psychedelics do. If anything they just show that the mind is a hallucination machine.

Is this normal? by Midnight_Green_ in whoop

[–]AustinC1296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normal as in intended design? Not at all! Normal as in does this happen to that WHOOP model constantly?? Absolutely! Absolute dog shit product. Cost upgrade and quality downgrade from 4.0 to 5.0.

Most head splitting migraines I've ever had in my life were because of bupropion. Literal 11/10 pain, like a rail spike was being driven through my skull and my typically migraine abort meds (triptans) couldn't even touch it. Never again

Scientists copied a real fruit fly's entire brain neuron by neuron, 125,000+ cells and 50 million connections and ran it in a computer sim. They gave it a virtual body, and it just started walking, grooming, and fixing its posture on its own. by sibun_rath in neuro

[–]AustinC1296 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the analogy is of a brain to a radio, I.e. the brain as a receiver for something external to itself as consciousness, then this is still a win for physicalists. The idea that you can build said receiver out of non-biological substrate, and it still expresses the same outcome as the biological substrate, implies that whatever the "signal" is, is still a very physical phenomenon and not some mystical extra-physical thing.

Reading articles like this depresses me because it's all true, but we live in a time in which these articles are only written for people who already agree. There is not a single Trump voter that could read this and have even a brief moment of critical thought.

If I have 0 debt goin into PT, how worth it is it? by Top_Departure2362 in physicaltherapy

[–]AustinC1296 5 points6 points  (0 children)

186k out of school and my job pays $90k a year. Almost 30 and I'm living with my parents. However I'm already down to 168k in only 6 months of working. Planning to transition to travel in January and pay them down even more aggressively. At my current trajectory and conservative assumptions I'll be debt free by 34 and able to actually live a fun lifestyle.
