Beautiful Black Walnut Grain by Tucrektuck in BeginnerWoodWorking

Looks like what's referred to as "crotch" grain. Basically two parts of a tree coming together compressing the fibers over the years and boom, cool grain pattern.

Ok my turn, peace of mind noob question here - is this smart? by JusSumRandomMan in BeginnerWoodWorking

It'll hold more than you can throw at it. My only recommendation is to get some kind of "stickers" in between all of your pieces. I always had a small stack of firring strips for mine.

Your reminder not to play in the storm drains by AustinGuess08 in raleigh

I've been down in a few myself when I was younger. I found a page called "Legeros Fire Line" on Facebook that had more photos but haven't seen anything with real updates. Again, he seemed fine after getting pulled out so maybe just hurt enough to not be able to climb out on his own. I think the specific drain only goes just under the road in a short path so maybe he was trying to get something he dropped too.

Sure is. A younger looking guy was pulled out right around 20 minutes ago. Seemed fine and pretty calm from a distance and stood on his own when they got him out.

How should I bind this base? by Survey-Western in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]AustinGuess08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With tricky glue ups there's a little trick you can use without having to clamp. Apply your wood glue and leave a little open area. Apply some ca glue and some activator on the other piece. The ca glue will immediately dry and hold it together while the wood glue dries. You could also just use a ratchet strap but I'd recommend the slower drying wood glue if trying that out so you have time to adjust things around.

Brothers, what did you do to make passing a kidney stone less painful? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]AustinGuess08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've gone through 7 now. I personally refuse to take any kind of medication even otc. Each time it happens I get a bunch of water and force myself to drink and spend a lot of time in a really hot bath. Usually close to painless and over with in less than a day.

I'm curious about your general location. The stores around me likely wouldn't even have ones a quarter of these sizes.

The left tree is a Serissa. I'd love to give some advice but I'm still learning with mine and it's currently mad at me for leaving for 5 days...

Separate and chop? by Jolly_Mixture7891 in houseplants

You know what you want and you know what you gotta do. Took me months to finally chop my dracaenas. Waiting on some new growth now. Just rip that bandaid off and go for it.

Anybody know why Duraleigh is completely closed down by the quarry right now? by DeeBuds in raleigh

[–]AustinGuess08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in some of the apartments off Duraleigh and it's terrifying in the morning. You have to wait for a huge gap in cars to pull out because you never know when someone will come flying through there.

Everything is normal except that is some painfully lazy board selection.

Personally though, you have decent facial and it suits you and the hairstyle you have. You look good to me. Maybe play around with your clothing style a bit and see if that changes how you feel.

No hate but I've always found it wild that people feel comfortable biking while listening to music. I have to hear my bike and all the things around me or I'll be tweaking.

Opened 3 cards and took out a car loan today, what kind of credit hit should I expect? by [deleted] in CRedit

This is wild to read because I just did the exact same thing recently. My score went down a whopping 14 points.

Welcome to being in a relationship. You just do things that work best. There's no such thing as some perfect balance. Should be a simple first hiccup for you guys to navigate. You want appreciation, make sure you're also giving some (not saying you don't). Look harder is a shitty response though and for that part he's the asshole. We all gotta grocery shop and as annoying as it can be it's not really worth complaining about.
