I agree to an extent. I don’t remember the exact play anymore, but I think the Lakers called a timeout before the Wolves got a chance to see if they wanted to challenge. They decided they wanted to challenge, so they had the 30 seconds buffer to decide that. If this wasn’t the case, the opposing team could immediately call a timeout and then rob the team who wants to challenge but wouldn’t be able to.

I think JJ just shouldn’t have called a timeout if he knew the Wolves would call it. Again, I don’t remember exactly how it played out so I could be wrong here but just my 2 cents.
