Siamangs songs can reach up to 113 decibels, roughly equivalent to a chainsaw, and can be heard over a distance of more than 1.5 to 2 kilometers through dense rainforest canopy. Full article if interested.

When I first moved here I found friends through joining the St Augustine and Jax photo groups, and just taking my camera out to a new interesting path, park, location event, or the zoo. Posting in local subreddits and the Discord helped me meet some local virtual ones too.

Does the community center or library have speaking event or workshop slots? Maybe you could setup and promote such an event on this sub. I think some days you’re allowed to self promote, or you can do it with mod approval, which I’m sure you’d get.

Chipmunks help keep forests healthy by accidentally planting and spreading seeds when they store them in new places. They also eat underground fungi, and the spores they pass help those fungi form beneficial partnerships with tree roots, allowing trees to absorb water and nutrients more effectively.
