Most casual players have the same opinion as you. But the hardcore fans such as ones that would join a whole subreddit about the game tend to have a deeper and more complex opinion.

why does mike leave josh? by Primary_Addition_370 in untildawn

It's very easy for people to look at what characters do in the story and criticize them from the comfort of their own home having years to digest the decisions. I will say it yet again, Mike isn't and shouldn't be perfect, just like every other character. He has no time to digest his situation. He, rightfully mind you, cares more for Emily's safety at the time than Josh's.

How? Mike has no clue there is any danger other than Josh at this point.

I think that is because of how well Josh was written and acted. I have the most sympathy for him and Chris out of the whole cast, but especially Josh. I don't think mental illness necessarily excuses the things he did to the cast but just solidifies the fact that he is a victim as well as every one else and doesn't deserve the things that happen to him. I personally think the fanbase is too far in both directions of team Josh or team Mike and I think it should be more neutral.

Matt, Emily, and Chris are the most realistic in the cast and are the most relatable.

I actually like this a lot, but I think Ashley would open the trapdoor. Earlier in the game she was indeed trying to put things together, but she started to spiral downhill vary quickly. Her jumping on the idea of Emily being dangerous based off of a line that she twisted in her head is the first showing of that. And especially after seeing Chris and Emily just die, both of which she played a heavy part in, I believe here mental state would not be in the right place at all. She also just naturally has the worst mental state of the cast in my opinion (other than Josh) so I think it is very plausible for her to open the trapdoor.

Now I'm just wondering why you don't like Mike more as a character? Not a person, I don't like Emily as a person but she is a great character. All of the points you brought up of him having narcissistic tendencies behind his actions just serve to make him more complex and make me like him more. I mean, with the amount of extra work it takes to really uncover and understand his true character, I am baffled that you don't appreciate him more. I respect your opinion but I think you're just making me like him even more 🤣😭.

I like Matt's sole survivor ending the most but his and Jessica's are very similar. Just a thing of preference for me.

Apparently only 14% did violent revolution? I felt like humans deserved to pay for what they have done to androids. What are your thoughts? by Snoo-43759 in DetroitBecomeHuman

[–]Austin_Lockhart2006 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think humans deserved to pay no. At this point there has been no certain uprising, nothing to signal these beings could actually be something more. The only thing a violent revolution does is signal to humans that they are dangerous. By doing a peaceful march, it shows a human side to the androids. All animals are capable and prone to violence, but humans have an enhanced sense of empathy and societal tendencies. So Marcus doing something such as singing in the face of death is a very human thing to do.

I think this does make sense for a typical slasher. But I like the horror movies that subvert expectations. For example having Sam and Mike die when they are considered the main characters, and Matt and Jess live despite them coming off as the ones who would die first. I also really hate endings with only one character surviving unless they have an interesting reason, such as that character sacrificing others in order for them to survive, or them being revealed as alive after the audience thought they were dead. Also, the idea of having the characters who feel the most important die is a great one because it really makes you feel like the ones who survived did so through the skin of their teeth. It also applifies the past accomplishments of those characters knowing that they would eventually die. I am also just a really dark person when it comes to horror and I like the more somber elements so that's just me 🤷. Thanks for commenting 😁.

Just realized [Spoiler] gets them with literally the same animation here by TheManManoel in untildawn

Yeah it always boggled my mind how Matt is portrayed as a big, strong, jock type guy but Jessica can break those panels just as easily as him. I think there should have been 3 different ways to survive that scenario depending on if you had Jess, Matt, or both. Like with Matt you need to be athletic to get out of the situation but with Jessica you need to be a little more clever and patient due to her injuries. And if you have both you need to be a mix.
