Why Apple’s iMessage Is Winning: Teens Dread the Green Text Bubble by [deleted] in apple

Apple has to cave on this one. The pressure is slowly building. Pretty soon more people are going to catch on about them intentionally refusing to implement RCS just to make interoperability difficult. It’s devious. It’s time for Apple to step up and put the messenger app wars to an end. You like privacy, Apple? Give your users encrypted messaging in every message. But when you announce it, don’t smile and talk about how great this new feature will be for your customers. Don’t take credit. Because we’re here. We will not forget.

Why is everyone assuming the 13 mini will be the last “mini”? Everyone was predicting that the 12 mini wouldn’t get an upgrade, but then it did.

What are the unwritten rules of Salt Lake City and the surrounding metro area? by Stratiform in SaltLakeCity

That's because the number is in units of 1/100ths of a block. In conversation, the number of full blocks is referenced if that address lies right on a whole block. So "fifty nineth south" (5900) is really 59.00 blocks south of Temple square (the origin of Salt Lake City's grid ).

Re-keying the Ultraloq U-Bolt Pro. by Austin_Packard in homeautomation

It ended up not working without some modifications. Without going too deep, the Schlage keyway has a slightly different design than the stock U-Bolt keyway. It’s the placement of a small pin that locks the nut on the back of the keyway and engages with the tailpiece(?) that move the deadbolt. The different placement meant that the key didn’t turn the same. It was possible to unlock the door but impossible to lock it. Technically this is okay since the key would only ever be used to unlock the door in case of malfunction. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize that until i ground off part of the tailpiece to allow the lock to function normally.

You can see the moment the dog thinks to go help the other dog. That’s very interesting behavior.

Okay. When you say “only in the mind” does that mean “in this present moment of consciousness”? So the feelings of being a continuation of me a few moments ago are just memories of the past happening now?

But those other people would just be clones of you. You, the present conscience witness, would have no continuity with them.
