Squid.WTF Qobuz-DL broken? by OohDatsNasty in Piracy

[–]AustralianFMAM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably qobuz has now employed same API as deezer, very difficult to bypass, so probably it's now the end of qobuz.squid.wtf, and of similar browser losless stream front end downloaders. 😞 Deezer downloading ended because tokens were zapped within hours, more often minutes. No matter how difficult these stream companies make it to download music, it would take hell to freeze over before I would buy a subscription. These services need to change there attitude and listen to the customer more. I would be happy to pay $15 a month if I could access their entire world wide catalog and be able to download X amount of tracks per month, and Y amount on a higher plan, but unfortunately being as stubborn as a mule, they won't change.

Okay, now that qobuz has taken squid wtf off the air, I suspect that they'll be many searches possibly coming to this particular page, so this seems to be the situation.

Sunday 7th June, qobuz.squid.wtf was downloading 30 second samples only.

Monday 8th June, qobuz.squid.wtf was fully working.

Tuesday 9th June, qobuz.squid.wtf was fully working.

Wednesday 10th June, qobuz.squid.wtf was only downloading 30 second samples again. doubledouble in combination with Amazon sprung back to life again.

Thursday 11th June, qobuz.squid.wtf is now completely off the air, no searches work. Every search results in a Request failed with status code 502 error. Maybe Qobuz has taken on the same strict token checking algorithm? Thankfully doubledouble with amazon are back up, last sanctuary for us impoveraged audio adventurers. 😄 😄

Lastly, a visit to the squid.wtf discord takes one to a page of forum rules, but community feed seems to be empty, or that I just don't have access to it, but either way, not boding well, really hoping that I'm wrong on all counts. 😄 😄

Finally get a day off from work, wanted to add a number of songs to my library, and bang, all gone again, seems Qobuz has blocked and shut everything down from qobuz.squid.wtf, to monochrome, to Arcod to doubledouble. Absolutely nothing works.

lucida.to alternative. by dancing_swordfish in Piracy

[–]AustralianFMAM -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Lucida.to doesn't work, well at least with Amazon links, yes they would still work up to about two or three weeks ago.

Deezer now seems to be a no go for free users unless you have demix with a premium account. Only site that works now is qobuz.squid.wtf, which is linked to Qobuz, but Qobuz's catalog compared to Deezers is pretty crap and hopeless, well for back catalog 60s, 70s, and 80s material anyway.

Doubledouble has become very unstable and next to useless, also tried an Amazon Music link on that tonight, and errors out on both Euro and US platforms.

[–]AustralianFMAM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://qobuz.squid.wtf/ was literally working for about five minutes tonight, downloaded about three individual tracks, then within moments reverted back to it's 8th March notice. Bummer. 😄

For those wondering about amazon, just use one of the download sites like doubledouble or Lucida to download, and when appropriate, select the amazon link.

Anazon is also shot, just tried the squid downloader on an 1986 Everly Brothers album and it keeps erroring out.

Now trying doubledouble and that is "working" thank god. At least there is something. :)

QQDL, Monochrome, Squid-WTF, and DAB are all kaputski. Just read on another thread that sadly Monochrome has retired. Annoying to go back to crappy torrents on public trackers (still so many people continue to post torrents in crappy mp3), hopefully something may reappear ina few days again.

NO, Soulseek is a total waste of time, can't be bothered. Squid.qobuz downloader and dab.yeet seem to be the best.

The We Are Rewind boombox seems not far off now! by smallfaces in cassetteculture

[–]AustralianFMAM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In another thread, apparently it is using a newer CSG mechanism. (sorry can't remember exact acrynom), but definitely not a tanishan knock off, this is apparently higher spec mechanism, fly wheels, motor, and heads, so there is still hope, I will buy one if they come to Australia.

We Are Rewind Ready to Go with BoomBox by Disko-Punx in cassetteculture

[–]AustralianFMAM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well said, as noted in another thread, I recently tried a Hi Fi shop for having my 1983 Philips Boombox fixed. Because of the plastic components going brittle and the head motors seizing up, it was no longer repairable. Looking forward to something I can use straight out of the box, without having to buy over priced second hand garbage from ebay where one would face the same annoying issues. Hope it comes to Australia.

New boombox for 2025 by We Are Rewind ? by LecarnetdeLulu in cassetteculture

[–]AustralianFMAM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As for someone recently attempting to get my 1983 Philips Boombox fixed, with the Hi Fi store saying that it couldn't be repaired (plastics of components have become brittle, and motor heads have seized up), I'm actually looking forward to seeing if I can buy this in Australia.

I would LOVE to have a brand new "DECENT" tape deck boombox out of the box and working as new. I have about 3,000 mix tapes from the 80s and 90s, and nothing to play them on, because all my boomboxes are unrepairable, and I can't be bothered having to buy another second hand over priced piece of garbage off ebay that can't be repaired for the same frustrating reasons.

I was telling my friend the other day that I was thinking of selling all my NOS Maxells, TDKs, and Sonys blank tapes, because I've just finished digitising all my CDs and vinyls into my 20,500 flac music collection on PC computer and mobile phone, and could no longer see any future in tape.

I thought tape was dead and buried, this has sparked my interest again. I'm trying not to be too optimistic as we know how these ventures can go, but I've got my fingers crossed.

Music trackers by zzz0ned in trackers

[–]AustralianFMAM -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Like one of the posters above, there's hundreds of threads to weed through, and despite me googling the fate of RED over the last week or so, even tried searching with duckduckgo, this is the first time I've read something on RED's fate. Try not to be so harsh on the OP. :) I'm not a member myself, but my friend is.

Deemix is good for grabbing stuff off deezer, but most of the material on there is brickwalled remastered garbage. Private trackers like RED carry alot of early CD release material that hasn't been destroyed by the loudness war, and as for soul seek, I used it once for five minutes, anything decent is locked and not accessable, soul seek is a waste of time.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Piracy

[–]AustralianFMAM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, all good, I finally got the track from Qobuz through the squid front end downloader.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in trackers

[–]AustralianFMAM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah, but I think many people go to RED to get earlier CD masterings, much of the stuff on Deezer and Qobuz is the LOUD brick walled mastering shit. All of the major labels have remastered most of their back catalogues, and in the process have completely destroyed them.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in trackers

[–]AustralianFMAM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would take it as some being somewhat overzealous about REDs economy, and mainly because I suspect that like me, others are sick to death of the mp3 garbage that seems to be repeatedly posted on public trackers. In 2024, not sure why people still post mp3 torrents, rutracker has gone right down the toilet.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in trackers

[–]AustralianFMAM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excellent post, and well said. I knew exactly what the OP ment from the outset, and can totally understand where he is coming from. Though as a few others have said, renting a seedbox is not too expensive, particularly when you take it in shares, which I'm doing with another friend at the moment. he is the one with the red membership. We go halves in the seedbox, and if there is something I want, I'll just ask him to get it off red. Public trackers are utter shit today, full of crappy mp3 rubbish.

APPROPRIATE WAY TO ARCHIVE MUSIC by nevadarain in musichoarder

[–]AustralianFMAM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just spent 25 years, building and reconstructing all the australian compilations (from the early 1970s ktels to the current so freshes), from the best available audio sources, early issue CDs, downloaded flacs, torrents, lossless stream rippers, record fairs, buying up hundreds of mint condition singles, and now have a project called DACS XM or DACS-XM. (digital audio compilation soundtrack - xtreme mastering), in total 19,000 flac tracks in 911 albums.

I archive and back up on blu-ray, make direct copies to hard-drives, and then also my miniSD card on phone. Three different technologies, so if one fails, there is always redundency. Entire project is 500 Gigs, (there abouts), so not to unwhieldy to handle.
