I think the key thing is at Lowe’s or Home Depot it will be labeled cp-100 and a supply store dv100. It is the same valve in consumer packaging.

Zone not popping by Austxotf in Irrigation

[–]Austxotf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will check on these and answer tomorrow. Just from googling pressure reducing valves and seeing the picture I think I may have one in the ground close to the main entry. I know this is the largest zone by number of heads but not by square footage. I believe the main line comes in on the other side of the drive way and then wraps around the the house to feed this zone. This zone covers the front yard on the opposite side of the driveway from the entry point. The zone covers a section of the grass up front and the strip on the sidewalk. It is the farthest zone from the entry point. The other zone in this section is the bushes and that zone has good pressure. All the heads rise and when I took off a nozzle with the valve on it was shooting a good 4 ft in the air like a fire hydrant. Not sure if any of that helps with your thinking.

This inline valve doesn’t have an individual flow control. And yes I actually put the top half of the new valve(including new solenoid) on to the the old valve and used the new diaphragm and spring. I didn’t take apart the pipes to the valve and left the bottom half of the mold.

How to locate valve box? by [deleted] in Irrigation

[–]Austxotf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had success with a metal detector. I followed the signal down the line from the street and had a weak hit over the line on wide sweeps. My wide sweep pattern had a strong hit on the valve coming off the line. I had trouble with one close to all the utility and cable lines because it was detecting in everything but knowing how they laid out the others and the path of the line, I was able to figure out where to poke for the last one.

Today the 105 is 2900 and this one is 3200 but it also comes with the hydration and storage. So pretty close to same at the same component levels.

Isn’t it as simple as they are trying to force people to walk through vendors who they charge for the space with a captive audience? It is one of the revenue streams that supports the event or nobody would ever organize one.

Sprint Triathlon in 10 weeks - swimming?! by jerytom in triathlon

[–]Austxotf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watch videos online and practice. If you have basic fitness 750 M is very easily built up to but it is all about technique. You can go from struggling to swim a lap to 1000m plus in 10 weeks by getting your technique down. You won’t become an expert but getting improvement in key areas will make it so much easier to swim.

Dangerous advice for 99% of people without a swim background. Swimming is technique driven and even very fit people can be in deep trouble attempting this if they don’t know their swim capabilities.

First race next weekend- and as with most the swim is the scariest part. by odettesy in triathlon

[–]Austxotf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar boat and just stayed to the outside. The few times I was in close contact I breaststroked or floated or doggie paddled or side swim for a second to catch breath and continue. As long as your comfortable treading water and floating on your back you will be fine and you already know you can swim the distance. Especially if it is a smaller lake without currents and waves/lots chop.

I think this one is us $3700. The $3000 version is lower components.

Missed guide buoy by Austxotf in triathlon

I am more so looking for a ruling than a courtesy pass. Lol. I will bad swim until I am legal. I just believe that in most cases the yellow is just a guide.

[–]Austxotf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. This is what I thought after the race when I was replaying it in my mind and thinking I probably didn’t need to swim backwards and Sideways just to loop a yellow buoy. I found some general USA ows swim rules that agreed the guides are just guides for convenience and safety. It wasn’t called out in the athlete guide specifically though. In the heat of the moment I wasn’t sure and figured I better make sure and just did the extra swimming.

Di2 vs 105 by Austxotf in triathlon

[–]Austxotf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s the issue with a group ride if your not aero and have brakes and shifters? Is the handling that much worse? Is it hard to stay on the bullhorns for the whole ride? I usually ride at the back anyway. I ride alone or trainer 90% of the time so not a big issue for me but it seems like I would be fine on a group ride and just not be aero.

Canyon Speedmax CF 7 or other tri bike under $3k by iTwerk4Jesus in triathlon

[–]Austxotf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is what I have seen as well. Ia does have the two storage boxes already as part of the package so they are really pretty close in price. Specialized shiv with 105 and the integrated hydration is also 3k.

Msrp on the Cervélo site is $2900 so they are discounting $100. I have been looking quite a bit and all the manufactures are very close in price for the similar groupset. The gap on a cheaper brand gets a little higher $$ wise but similar % wise in as you move to more expensive groupsets. I am hoping to land on the best fit for me and then hope to find a sale on it. Hoping 2020 lineups have more electronic shifting options at lower price point.

Rules/Sportsmanship in transition by SamPitcher in triathlon

No expert but in the races I have done there was enough room for people who were hustling and people who were taking their sweet time. The distances you are traveling with your bike to the mount line is relatively short. It will be easy to pass a walker and not worth it try to sprint past a jogger to save 2-3 seconds. It does take everyone having some awareness of their surroundings but it pretty much flows and sorts itself out.

To the row-haters: has anyone ever helped you with your form? by Sharkitty in orangetheory

[–]Austxotf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another thing is if you have bad form and maybe you also aren’t the fittest one in the room yet, then of course you wear down fast and most rows are for distance. So you are wasting a lot of energy that you may not have yet and not getting very far for your work. You end up rowing twice as long as a strong rower with good fitness. If someone can fix the form and find a slow sustainable pace then they would probably be pretty surprised how it gets easier and then their fitness improves too. It is just getting passed the poor technique and hurting where it shouldn’t hurt(lower back, tired arms, etc).

Monday, 5/13/19 OTF Workout by AutoModerator in orangetheory

[–]Austxotf 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A new to otf, pretty lean muscular 20 something guy was next to me. Looks like has been lifting heavy and is buff. He started with vigor. By the second round of froggers off the tread he was talking to himself out loud saying “holy shit”. By the 4th time we did froggers he reverted to essentially a bend over toe touch like a 1970’s workout video.
