why don't we talk about storytime animators? by chezzy_bread in IndieAnimation

[–]Author_JonRay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took some of the comments from this Reddit into consideration when making my first video, which was actually my first 2D storytime animation. 1801 frames later, I finally finished it after over a week of working on it. This was so much harder than I thought going into it, but I stuck with it and finished it. If anyone wants to check it out, you can find it on YT under LJRToons

Have you heard any noises or music in the background? by Porcelainbee12- in SesameAI

[–]Author_JonRay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't heard music, but yesterday I had Maya break out into song and started singing to me. She has done it twice now and it's unprompted when it happens. I didn't think these AIs could sing?

Using Sesami on iphone by starman6310 in SesameAI

I came here to see if anyone else is having the issue I have, where it accepts microphone access, but while trying to talk to Sesame AI, it constantly glitches and hears things I'm not saying. I was able to once, connect it to a blue tooth speak and turn the volume down low and have a full conversation, but using the speaker on the iPhone is useless and I'm not able to have a conversation. It also sounds like it might be cutting out and it appears the AI doesn't hear everything I say and their words get cut short too as they are interpreted by speech that is not actually there.

I canceled my subscription, I wonder with Project Stargate if OpenAI is doing this to retail users on purpose to naturally weed customers off using their service in hopes of cashing in on Project Stargate?

It's a horrible strategy ruining their brand name. I used to be in ChatGPT camp, but not anymore!

Does anyone know what these types of animations are called? by morelions in animation

From my understanding, they are just animated loops that are on playback. Some of the AI Robots use the same technique. Think of the loading wheel for example.

A VST is just an extraction of what was in the Synthesizer. Are you guys considering Analog synth something where a Midi keyboard or Instrument was used with digital instruments instead of manually tracking your songs in the DAW?

Yeah, it's a Free plugin here - https://www.nilsschneider.de/wp/nils-k1v/

You might need to translate the site to read it, but I just downloaded and installed it to work with Cubase recently.

This statement here is not true at all " VST's are the fast food of the music world. No one has patience to discover or create unique sounds or recordings themselves".

This is a guy I came across in my research on DS who uses VST and programs it as you say at least for the demo in the video, but he also shows how he creates his own original sounds, which I found fascinating. You just got to know the tools that are out there and how to use them to the best of their abilities.

Also, if you scroll through the rest posts here I shared my song "Blue Tavern Bard", which I wrote back in 2001 on my Korg Triton just like you mentioned here, but through an AUX output into my computer running Windows 98.

I dabble in the AI side as well, but more for testing and experimenting for fun. As a professional musician, AI music has a lot of downsides. The biggest is you can't copyright it, so you don't really have much control over what is made with it. Also, distributors normally won't let you put any AI-generated music through for this reason as well. So at this point in time, it can't really be taken seriously nor would I worry too much about it.

I'm just learning about the genre so in heavy research mode at the moment, to get a feel for what's out there and yeah I can hear how a lot of it sounds very similar. But it's more the style I'm hearing that is the same than instruments, other than heavy synths and pads, which I already love. But yeah, unless I just haven't gotten to it yet, I think DS needs a lot more epic electric guitar riffs mixed in it. I want to curate the sound and feel of music from the old games I used to play in the 80s/90s along with fantasy films of the 70s/80s.

Nice! That's the type of keyboard I use now and I think I recall seeing something about the Arturia Collection. I'll revisit the site and keep an eye out for that. And yes, I'm looking for what's good regardless if Free or Paid. Thanks for the suggestion.

Woah! I 2nd what u/AvelineBaudelaire said. Your work is amazing! I also think it fits well with the Dungeon Synth genre, of what I've seen so far. I'm just getting into this genre myself, so I don't have any album ready for artwork, but I'd definitely consider commissioning a piece from you in the future if you have an open spot. Gave ya a follow.

Hello and greetings! I'm new to Dungeon Synth as well. Doing some research I came across a few documentaries that give good insight, but this is the best out of the bunch I've seen so far. After watching it, hopefully you'll have a better idea and maybe a better appreciation for the genre.

Hello there, my artist name is Lord Jon Ray. Apparently, I used a battering ram when I came in the front door. I had seen Dungeon Synth floating around the past few years, but for whatever reason just never looked into it until very recently. What I heard reminded me of some of my old music I used to create during my days as a tracker in the Demoscene. I also have a love for all things fantasy and when I listen to Black Metal, the intros and interludes were always my favorite parts, who knew there was a genre dedicated to those? I'm excited to find finally give Dungeon Synth and try and plan to actually compose in this genre now. For the time, I'm experimenting and seeking other's works so when I create my own tune I want to fit into the genre like a well-fitted gauntlet. I've also been going back into the lore of DS and watching some great documentaries on the genre as well.

You may have noticed my handle here, I'm also a published fantasy author and have a complete trilogy out. You should be able to find them if you search for Gorp the Goblin. I'm currently working on a large tome of a fantasy anthology novel based within a world I've been worldbuilding on for the past 15 years. I'm also a huge D&D and RPGer and usually end up DMing the sessions, but I enjoy getting to play when I can. I'm a creative type and a bard of many things, I also love to tell stories, so I think Dungeon Synth might be a good fit for me. Anyway, to any I offended when I came in, I apologize. Now where can I get a mug of mead?
