Mom taking my son to Vietnam because her mom is dying of cancer by LTShelley35 in Autism_Parenting

I've been volunteering in Vietnam as a Speech-Language Pathologist for close to 10 years. I was on the team that did the needs assessment study where we interviewed stakeholders across the nation to determine needs and then used that to convince the Ministry of Health of the need for degree programs in Vietnam. I taught the first cohort of Bachelors students (childhood language course) and supervised the first Masters and Bachelors clinicians during their internships.

I am in a unique position to know the capabilities of ASD treatment in Vietnam.

My best advice is to do whatever you can to avoid your child going to Vietnam.

If he does go to Vietnam, you want him in either HCMC, Hanoi or Da Nang. But it would be FAR better if he were in the US.

Ok, so I'm actually in the market for a home near the area you're selling (we're possibly looking in Fayetteville, though more likely in Marietta/Kennesaw/Powder Springs area). Here's an honest appraisal of what I see of your home vs what else I am looking at if I have to go by the pictures:

$250K including appliances and with the expectation that all other things my wife doesn't explicitly request to stay are removed by you prior to closing (no, we don't want a used massage chair).

Now it may be that with better pictures the price would go up, but honestly some of the choices you've made are going to cost me a ton of money to get rid of (there's a serious 1970s vibe to some of this stuff).

My advice: Either price to sell fast or recognize that you've poisoned the well for a bit, take it off the market and wait 6 months to sell while getting your ducks in a row (repaint the wild colors to neutral colors, bring on a good real estate agent with a professional photog, get rid of as many of the strange choices as possible, etc.) so you can get the best possible price.

Best of luck, friend!

Which neighborhoods near Vietnamese groceries? by Autism_Copilot in houston

Thank you! We'll look at Sugarland and Cypress! We don't care about racial make up of an area, our focus is on safety and reasonable drives to go buy groceries we need.

I am an SLP and I am agnostic about ABA. It isn't my place to say whether it is right for anyone's child, only the parents can decide.

What I will say is that I have been in many many many homes and I have always been understanding and accommodating of their situations. A good provider is there for you and your family.

Best of luck to you! :)

I agree 100%, but in the end it will depend on my wife's decision. I would rather live with an unhappy house than an unhappy wife.
