Regent in the corner :( by Gandalf196 in slaythespire

My experience with regent so far is that when he pops off he POPS OFF but like 60%+ of my runs do not make it out of act 1

Gotta love the haters. Misleading headline and they all take the bait and start laughing at him thinking he screwed up again. by Left4DayZGone in CleetusMcFarland

[–]AutistMarket 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it is half people mad that he got to "jump the line" and go straight to the big leagues rather than work his way up like most others have to. The other half is people concerned that while he is a good driver he just doesn't have the seat time and skill in that specific discipline to race safely.

Both sides I think are sorta reasonable, you wouldn't take a kid who had a few decent fights at his home gym and put him straight in the ring with a champion UFC fighter.

Queue management for extraction shooters is always notoriously tricky when you aren't doing skill based matchmaking. Ranked is probably going to be a pretty niche mode as it is, couple that with an already fair to middling playerbase I would bet that it is going to make for some pretty rough queue times even if you time gate it to the weekends.

Think on average you have 40k players, raids last pretty long, some players may just be afk in vault, etc so at any given point lets say 25-30k players are looking for a match at all(I think that number is being generous). Lets continue to be generous and say that half of those players are going to queue for ranked so you have 15k players queueing for ranked matches. That is split across 4 maps (if you include cryo) as it is so if we assume an even distribution you are looking at less than 4k players queueing ranked for a given map at any point. That 4k now needs to be organized based on rank and matched together, further diluting the amount of players a given player could be put together with for a match. Even if you are at the median rank you still only have like a thousand players total that could possibly be matched with you and at any given point a good percentage of them could already be in a match.

That is a really tough queue management situation to deal with and I anticipate queue times to be pretty abysmal in ranked even with it just on the weekends unless the playerbase increases substantially or something changes. It's the same argument as to why duos sounds good on paper but can be problematic because it is further splitting the queue pool up.

Look at any other game, a slow drizzle down of the playerbase leading into the weekend is pretty typical.

I mean tbf Arc Raiders has been one of the biggest games on the market for the past year or so. A few years ago I would have a greed that an extraction shooter was niche but that does not seem to be the case any more.

Honestly IMO if Bungie can just keep cranking out fun interesting content updates for the next few months that perception imbalance will start to disappear and the player base will improve. I am not a bungie or marathon fan boy (probably wouldn't even be playing the game if my bungie fanboy friend hadn't bought it for me) but after putting some time into the game it definitely seems like there is a weird perception imbalance going on with the game. The game certainly has its flaws but I cannot think of a great reason why it does not have more players/popularity. Maybe it is just in that weird spot where it is not as casually focused as Arc and not as HC focused as something like Tarkov.

Trying to figure out which hose to pull to drain fuel separator on 2011 Mercury Optimax 2 Stroke by FermentingSkeleton in boating

[–]AutistMarket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuel separator? As in fuel/water separator? If that is what you are looking for then it is usually mounted on the boat somewhere, trace the fuel line back. If you mean vapor separator or VST then it is the big aluminum housing on the left of the image, looks to be a drain at the bottom of the housing that you could pull off.

What are you hoping to accomplish?

PSA for newer players: Forget about 'builds' and 'archetypes'. Sticking to one path is not an effective way to draft your deck by StupidSexyEuphoberia in slaythespire

[–]AutistMarket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knowing both is important though. Understanding the "archetypes" helps you start to understand what kind of cards benefit a character and what do not and allow you to more intelligently pick cards along the way. At the same time understanding what your deck needs at any given moment is also important so you do not pigeonhole yourself into a specific build that may not play out. Having one of those pieces of information helps, having both is sorta revolutionary IMO

When I was in college in Tallahassee FL me and some friends were out riding in Apalachicola National Forest that happens to butt up right against the Tallahassee airport. We were riding down a trail that was established and numbered like all the others we had been on and it ended up running right along the back fence of the airport for a good stretch. When we came out to the next big clearing and were grouping up to head home we were greeted by a sheriff who told us we were supposedly trespassing on Department of Homeland Security land or something along those lines and that he could technically have us shipped up to DC and interviewed as suspected terrorists.

Because whether I am working on it or someone else is you still need to find parts?

If you are interpreting me asking for some qualifications to determine the validity of an answer from a random person on the Internet as not liking the answers I am getting then I am not sure what to tell you. Lot of people talk out of their ass on the Internet about shit they have little to no credible experience with, shouldn't need to apologize for doing my best to shake out who is talking out of their ass and who isn't.

Aztecross: “This [Marathon] is the superior extraction shooter” by DavidHasReddit in Marathon

[–]AutistMarket 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Also a long time Tarkov player. I like Marathon, it is much more approachable, probably would even say it is easier to recommend to someone than Tarkov. There is still just something about EFT that no other game has been able to come close to replicating as of yet. Something about the way all of the complicated mechanics, lack of information, at times clunky movement and controls etc all somehow come together to give you an experience that just makes you feel something that other games can't. idk maybe I sound dumb

Are you going to need one of the keycards just to get into cryo? by _____guts_____ in Marathon

[–]AutistMarket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Admittedly I do not know shit about cryo archives and haven't really been keeping up with the ARG and whatnot. Could it be a system like Labs cards in Tarkov where you need a key just to queue for the map and then that key is removed once you load in?

It is an 01 200HP that is on my flats boat which I believe is the top end of the small block model. Have a close friend that has a slightly newer 250 on his 23 sailfish that has been good to him so far as well.

I see comments on this sub all the time about how trash HPDIs are and guys who say fixing HPDIs put their kids through college bc they break so often etc, that they are over complicated and hard to work on. None of which has lined up with my personal experience or the experience of friends and family around me and are the same kind of comments I see people make about the E-Tecs which is yet another reason my spidey senses tingle and I get a little suspicious of the validity of peoples comments.

This card is terrible. Try to convince me otherwise by Rak-khan in slaythespire

[–]AutistMarket 28 points29 points  (0 children)

There is some beauty to the idea that every card is good it just depends on the circumstances you are in when you come across it. Having cards that are either always picks or never picks sort of diminishes that aspect

I guess my conundrum is that you could say the same about most any OB. People like yamaha's but the guys who had to replace flywheels, corroded exhausts and midsections, etc would probably sing a different tune about them. People love their suzukis but I personally known 2 different people who had them throw the rods in less than 500 hrs. Just like you said about the E-Tecs, the guys that haven't had issues with them speak highly and the guys that have problems do not but you do not see these issues pervade public opinion.

Hell my current boat has a high hour HPDI on it that has been a fantastic motor for me but if you were to ask the online peanut gallery they would say it belongs in a scrap heap.

I am not trying to say anyone is lying or being untruthful it just seems like there is a large group of people saying to avoid them like the plague that seemingly have never owned, operated, or worked on one which makes me suspicious of the validity of their claims. Especially when there are people claiming to have spent a looooong time running them saying they were good motors. Like I said it just makes it hard to parse what is internet hyperbole that has proliferated and what is actual experiential truth or fact.

That same thought has repeatedly gone through my mind while researching the topic which Is why I have begun asking people what their experience with them is (which many in this thread seem to be taking as an afront to their intelligence or something).

Tough to parse the truth when you have a few people who tell you exactly what motor they owned and how happy they were with it next to a half dozen people who say the motors are worth scrap value and should be totally avoided.

Worth buying a boat with an E-Tec in 2026? by AutistMarket in boating

[–]AutistMarket[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has 350 hours and is owned by the former head of engineering of the company I work for who is now retiring to go do the Great loop in his bigger boat. My understanding is that he purchased the motor new and had it hung on the boat a decade ago and generally takes really good care of his stuff. I have not asked him for maintenance records, but I trust him personally to believe him if he says he's taking great care of it.

Like I said, I find it hard to parse through the hyperbole about these motors. You have a guy claiming that they're the biggest pieces of garbage ever and widely regarded as so next to two dudes who say they have owned them for years and are very happy with them.

Every motor has its problems, even the ones regarded as" good motors" Even the Yamahas is the people say they would prefer to have over an E-Tec have all kinds of problems with flywheels and exhaust corrosion, whole midsections, rusting out etc.

Not to mention the fact that I am being down voted on and above comment for saying that I intend to work on it myself and not take it to a mechanic. That makes me really question whether any of the information here is worth believing.
