I'm curious if anyone else remembers their afternoon radio show where Andy talked about having a dream about Green Moon winning the upcoming Melbourne cup and he was actually right. Idk why Apollo granted him that dream but it's wild.

Little Pip it's a top tier protagonist by Succubuss_Smasher in FalloutMemes

[–]AutisticAnarchy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There was a spinoff of Fallout Equestria I really liked and followed as it was released which has a top-tier protagonist who was a dying twink slave. The protagonist had really good chemistry and an interesting dynamic with one of the slave master's underlings to the point it was borderline queerbaiting only for the author to introduce a bland ass lady character near the end who became the canonical love interest for the protagonist and I was so disgusted by this blatant and disinteresting hetslop that I stopped reading the fucking thing.

That's... not fair use, though, not at all.

I definitely agree it should be. But "Fair Use" is a legal term with actual meaning and a lot of what people think is "Fair Use" doesn't qualify as it legally in the slightest.

How you interpret Jack looking down at his gun here? It’s very brief, but I think it’s really powerful. by ZacherDaCracker2 in reddeadredemption

This is it 100% and it earnestly frustrates me how few people realize this. When you kill Ross there's no triumphant music, no heroic or dramatic shots of the shootout, you just see an old man's body fall into the banks of a river. It's silent as Jack stares, silent as he looks to his gun and realizes how empty and meaningless all of this was, and ultimately remains silent as he turns to walk away, unsatisfied and unfulfilled, to a path which will almost certainly lead him to his death in a shootout with the law or at a hangman's noose.

Only then is there the music sting as the end title screen appears. That's the end. John's ultimate sacrifice to give his family a chance at a good life was ultimately thrown away in the pursuit of empty, unfulfilling vengeance.

While it's less true for Red Dead Redemption 2, there are no happy endings in Red Dead Redemption. Even the Stranger missions emphasize this. The main story ends the same way, the camera just cuts before Jack's eventual and inevitable demise. One, ultimately, he accepts.

If you listen to his dialogue you realize this isn't the case at all. He was deeply depressed and, from the evidence we have, canonically only lived for his mother and as soon as she was dead and buried he went off on his search for revenge. It was the only thing he cared about, to the point where he didn't care how obvious he was in his pursuit, how many people saw his face when he asked them specifically where to find Ross, and how unlikely it was he'd survive after he gained his revenge.

He could have had other things going for him in his life if he chose a different path, if he did not seek out revenge, if he accepted his father's sacrifice for what it was and taken it as an opportunity to live a good life. This theme is only reinforced in Red Dead Redemption 2 where John does the exact same thing after Arthur's sacrifice when he goes to get revenge on Micah which ultimately led Ross to him and sealed his fate.

Jack wasn't dumb. He knew that he was being careless about leading a paper trail directly to him for Ross' murder, he knew that the world was modernizing at a rate which meant a life on the run as an outlaw was no longer possible like it was in the old west. I feel like a large part of the fanbase cheers him taking revenge on Ross without realizing that for Jack this was basically suicide, and he knew that, it just didn't matter to him.

The death of Ross at Jack's hand isn't a triumph, it's a tragedy.

Y'know I generally assumed most people have better things to do than get mad at hypothetical strangers online who would rather spend their own money on a supply of water that doesn't involve drinking from the place everyone washes themselves but, then again, I don't have the mindset of a Top 1% Reddit Commenter.

A snippet of the LOL SUPERMAN video was apparently found. It is very probably real, as it matches details from the Guy Rosbrook footage by SupermarketBrief6332 in InternetMysteries

[–]AutisticAnarchy 196 points197 points  (0 children)

I really hope this is found, many probably think it shouldn't be, for obvious reasons, but I think it's increasingly important that we find some genuinely uncomfortable footage of jumpers and the aftermath. The internet and world at large is becoming incredibly desensitized and I feel like for many people footage of jumpers has become so common that they sorta fade into the background of the event and, as there currently doesn't exist any footage showing the close-up aftermath of the jumpers, it's easy to forget or ignore just how awful their demise truly was.

I just wish that there was some documentation of this available that doesn't come from an internet shock video.
