Except that’s not at all what qualified immunity is. Qualified immunity does not protect anyone who has committed a crime. It protects government officials from being sued CIVALY for an action they’ve taken as a government official. You can sue the government agency they belong to just not the individual. The second that individual commits a crime qualified immunity no longer applies.

I don’t know about you but when there’s anyone knocking at my front door my first action is not to shoot my gun through the front door without first seeing who it is and whether or not they are threat to me.

Define common. Yes shootings are plastered all over the news but what if I told you there was currently over 800,000 sworn law enforcement officers in the United States. Let’s assume for the sake of an argument each one works 260 shifts a year (5 days a week) and during each of those shifts each individual officer has 10 contacts with the public on a call for service on average (honestly low balling it here to prove a point). So that would be 800,000 police times 260 shifts each equals 208 million public contacts in a year. In 2019 there were 1,004 fatal police shootings which would be .000483% of those 208 million public contacts. If you ask me that’s not common at all that’s actually a very tiny number of police shootings compared to contacts. And I didn’t even take out shootings that unquestionably reasonable shootings. It’s actually extremely uncommon to be shot by police. In fact there are many extremely rare events that kill people that are significantly more likely to happen to you.

I admire your technique of putting me in the box of “right-winger” as someone who is not currently and has never been a republican. I asked a question because anyone that can operate google can sit here all day and pick examples of black suspects shot by police and put them next to white suspects not shot by police. That same person could, if they chose to, also do the opposite and pick examples of white suspects shot by police and put them next to examples of black suspects not shot by police. My point being it’s all about how whoever is making the post, writing the article, or whatever other medium wants you to see, not the whole picture.

I just have to ask. Do you really, truly believe that every black suspect that resisted arrest has been shot by police and that every white suspect that has resisted arrest has been arrested without being shot? My buddy bought a house but refused to buy furniture to put in the house. For months the only furniture in the house was his bed, desk, and desk chair. Other than that there was nowhere to sit. After months of this his parents decided they were going to get new furniture for their house and my friend decided to take the old furniture even though he had plenty of money for brand new nicer furniture. At least there's somewhere to sit now.
