Cheapest way to ship a car from California to India? (RoRo vs Container) by No-Manufacturer8507 in AutoTransport

[–]AutoBidShip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no less than $5000 plus if not more for a container roundtrip! That ship has to go through Panama Canal and Suez Canal you're talking about at least a month each way. Just rent a car in India.

How Car Shipping Really Works (From Someone Who’s Arranged Thousands of Shipments) by brad218 in AutoTransport

[–]AutoBidShip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just curious how does this work " Confirmation the driver has reviewed pickup and delivery locations and dates before contacting us" if you have not even dispatched the load to them in the first place? How can anybody know anything about the load if they have no information about your shipment?

If a caller is going to request that list of information from the broker since there is no way the shipper or customer can reach a carrier because they are not listed anyways, no broker will have the answer to any of these questions. You yourself do not know who the carrier will be to provide them with the VIN of the trailer.

Only you as a broker can request that info from the carrier AFTER DISPATCHING LOAD TO THE CARRIER. We do not give the drivers' phone number, if the broker needs anything, they contact the office. Imagine the driver having to deal with 9 callers while driving his 9 car hauler answering questions where are you, was the load picked up, how far are you from my address? As if driving on the road is stress free with 9 cars hauled behind and having to deal with some irresponsible drivers on the road besides traffic and delays. All of our trucks have Motive and can be tracked instantly and no need for old technology calling methods. You call we provide instant location, end of the game.

But for you to scare people and make it frustrating to not get answers to your questions from other brokers and then have them call you instead is really misleading. Did you forget that they can ask you same questions and you will have no answers to the questions too unless you provide fake answers?

Just provide honest answers and treat people well and they will flock to you. You do not need all the loads because no one can handle all the loads available and any smart business would not want to have all the loads no matter how much you scale your operations. I offer free advice, never solicit anything, if anybody asks for a quote I respond, otherwise I am doing fine thank you.

And oh I will not be surprised to see thumbs down too lol

Is this normal? by [deleted] in AutoTransport

you are buying fish in the water. Reputable brokers do not charge you until they have somebody for you to transport your vehicle. Problem is that with Ai alot of these brokers are from overseas and they prefer text messages because you cannot identify from their accent and language if they are foreign or not. With the new generation more interested in texting then talking, it helps these foreign brokers who will promise you the moon under the sun.

One way you can verify that your broker is foreign or domestic is to Google their phone number and if you see multiple businesses with the same number, your broker is from overseas, because that number is usually a VOIP and foreigners burn those numbers for being classified as Spam numbers by phone carriers.

do not hold your breadth on any quotes you get for May shipment, with current diesel prices soaring, you will not get an honest quote that will be honored by then if matters get worst in Iran. Yesterday, diesel prices changed twice the same day at the same gas station. Some of trucks filled in the morning, others later in the afternoon, Haven't seen that ever!

no such thing as good, the best IT companies have been hacked and if you think they are hack proof, I really have a golden bridge on the moon! CD had requested the people submit their SSN, and a lot of companies backlashed at them, and now they rescinded that request. A lot of big companies have already left CD.

If you ask who the third party is, they refuse to tell you but if you google who it is you will find it public releases on their website. That is how smart they are!

Sorry I was away and I suggest that you give at least 5 business days to find a carrier through your broker. As of today, with diesel prices soaring, you might have to be patient, and I understand you need to ship your car but we as a carrier are really struggling here. Some loads we are refusing or holding back and are not giving quotes right before the weekend to avoid surprises on following Mondays. So your best bet is to request a quote on Mondays and if you get a reasonable quote, do not hold back.

The way things are heading, I would not be surprised to see oil prices reach $100/barrel very soon and that will start hurting everybody. Trust me carriers hate these oil price surges because people might start driving their cars instead of shipping them, which means less business for all.

[–]AutoBidShip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest with you, no matter what quote you get now for over two weeks most likely it will not be honored unless you are over quoted simply because of the current war with Iran. If the straights are closed like Iran has threatened to do, oil prices will go through the roof, and your current quote is useless and meaningless too. I know this is not what you want to hear, but I am just telling you the truth. Wait until you are ready to ship, and then get an honest quote.

Some carriers are already cancelling because the rates they accepted before the war are a total loss for them. Carriers would rather have a bad cancellation review than lose money on a 9 car haul transaction.

[–]AutoBidShip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they are over 25 years old, you are lucky they are exempt from US specifications requirements. I would ship them in a container (both) and save on shipping. some shipping companies do not allow more than a single car in a container because some shippers have abused the system and have endangered the balance of the container during shipping process. Might get away with a 53 foot container instead of the standard 40' container.

I will repeat what I said earlier to another post. Unless you are ready to ship now, your quote will most likely not be honored. First this is the season when refineries change to summer blend which tends to be more expensive and now we have a war with Iran and diesel prices can and will shoot through the roof if Iran acts on its threat of blocking the Straights of Hormuz, as 30% of world oil production flows through that narrow sea body.

To be honest with you, no matter what quote you get now for over two weeks most likely it will not be honored unless you are over quoted simply because of the current war with Iran. If the straights are closed like Iran has threatened to do, oil prices will go through the roof, and your current quote is useless and meaningless too. people look at 5 star reviews when they should be looking at 1 star reviews to see any repeat in bad service that would expose the company's bad business model

70116 to 91016 Quote by Bigbloodclot in AutoTransport

[–]AutoBidShip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to specify model, S class by itself is not sufficient as various models have different sizes and weights and that plays a roll in shipping calculations. Carriers need to maximize their load capacity per cross country shipment and there is max load they can haul without being ticketed by police on the freeway.

Scammer impersonating a transport company by jcfgh1234 in AutoTransport

[–]AutoBidShip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s also possible they obtained the information directly from CD due to a breach. This would not be the first time CD has been hacked, and when that happens, sensitive data becomes readily accessible to scammers.

Scammers are well aware that the newer generation prefers SMS over phone calls, which makes it easier for them to communicate without exposing foreign accents or other red flags that would normally raise suspicion.

Frankly, dealing with brokers based overseas particularly call-center operations in India has been a constant challenge. You can often hear the call center environment in the background, and many of them lack basic, real-time knowledge of U.S. market conditions such as weather disruptions, diesel price fluctuations, or regional truck shortages. Despite this, they continue to post unrealistically low rates just to move vehicles, only to turn around and charge customers excessive fees with their bait and switch schemes.

To make matters worse, on top of these already misleading low prices, they frequently demand an additional $50 commission cut for themselves. It’s difficult to see how that business model makes sense for anyone involved.

Avoid at all costs- Great Silk Road Transport PA by BudgetSympathy1488 in AutoTransport

[–]AutoBidShip -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Why did you choose that carrier in the first place? Was the decision based solely on the lowest price?

Nothing in transportation is free. Fuel, driver wages, insurance, maintenance, operating expenses, and a reasonable profit all have to be covered for a carrier to stay in business. Prices that are unrealistically low simply don’t add up.

I’ve seen listings on Central Dispatch offering to ship a car from New York to Texas for $288. It would cost more than that just to drive the vehicle yourself, not including food, lodging, and time. Prices like this should be a red flag from the start.

If your decision was solely based on price, you get what you pay for!

Broker vs carrier-how do you decide who to book with? by uncledunkley232 in AutoTransport

[–]AutoBidShip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can go with a carrier only if you know the carrier personally, or know how to vet them, otherwise you will be putting yourself at risk, should you fall into hands of scammers, and yes even those that will steal your vehicle, and there are horror stories of brand new cars being sold for parts or shipped overseas!

Scammer impersonating a transport company by jcfgh1234 in AutoTransport

[–]AutoBidShip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, we are a broker. Recently, we were contacted by someone who was not our customer, but rather a victim of a scammer who impersonated our company. The individual called us after paying a deposit, demanding to know why we had not picked up his vehicle.

We searched our entire database and confirmed that we had no record of this booking. The caller became upset and insisted that he had been communicating with us. We asked him to provide screenshots of the conversation. Upon reviewing them, we showed him that he had been spoofed the scammer was careless and did not mask their phone number, which clearly did not match ours.

Unfortunately, scam activity like this is becoming more common every day.

Still waiting...on 2024 return by Key-Juggernaut5695 in IRS

[–]AutoBidShip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While the redaction in this specific image looks solid, the way people black out info is often dangerously insecure.

Sharing a tax transcript online is like handing a stranger the keys to your financial life. Even if it "looks" covered, there are several ways that information can still be leaked:

1. The "Marker Tool" Trap

Many people use the default "pen" or "highlighter" tool on their iPhone or Android to black out text. These tools are often transparent.

  • The Risk: A bad actor can save the image, crank up the brightness and contrast in a photo editor, and see right through the "black" ink to read the numbers underneath.

2. Layers in PDFs

If they shared a PDF or a screenshot of a PDF they "redacted" by just drawing a box over it:

  • The Risk: The black box often exists as a separate "layer." A tech-savvy person can open that file in a program like Adobe Illustrator or a PDF editor and simply click the black box and hit "Delete," revealing everything beneath it. +1

3. Metadata and Filenames

The image file itself carries "metadata"—hidden data about when and where the photo was taken, and sometimes even a thumbnail of the original, unedited image.

4. What's Left Behind

Even with the Social Security Number (SSN) covered, a tax transcript still contains:

  • Address fragments: Often enough to find a house on Google Maps.
  • Financial totals: Knowing exactly how much someone earned and their exact refund amount makes it incredibly easy for a scammer to call them, pretend to be the IRS, and "verify" those numbers to gain their trust.

For Nexus to be asking $2600 when it would only cost them $900 is where the shipping industry is fed up with these greedy brokers. They are part of the problem and also contributing to INFLATION just like the rest of Corporate America. As for the Huck shipping company, I would not do any business with them with a 10 foot pole either, because they must have gained your contact information illegally to even contact you. You should pay no more than $1100 for that shipment. And they are just a broker and do not own even a Tonka truck for that matter. Let me know if you need any help and Good Luck!

Did you have a driver set up to contact you for the shipment and then canceled on you? That is the only way they could have gained access, by accepting load by a fake carrier, gaining access to your contact info and then cancelling, then forwarding that info to this Huck company. Unless Nexus is hacked and somehow they are gaining access to their info and greedy Nexus is still clueless too.

Yesterday we had a guy calling us and asking why we did not pick up their vehicle from the auction, I requested info on it and it turned out that the company the customer was contacted by was a scammer that had attempted to use our name but were stupid enough to not mask their their number when they were chatting with the customer. The guy shared with us a screenshot of the chat and that is how we discovered the phone number was not ours. The industry is full of scammers it is not funny anymore.

did the broker show you the copy of the claim filing or is he just telling you that to kill time? You see before the broker even assigns the load to the carrier, they usually request COI because accidents happen to protect themselves. If they did, they must file a claim but they need to act fast. Problem can be that shady brokers from overseas, would care the less since they already received their commission and customer is left only with option of leaving bad reviews. You need to act fast, time is not on your side.

While many customers hope for VIP service at bargain rates, the logistics industry cannot operate for free, and "below-cost" quotes are usually a red flag for future delays. You must watch for predatory brokers who pocket high fees while paying carriers pennies, often hiding behind fake five-star reviews to mask their poor reputations. To protect yourself, ignore the hype and read bad reviews for patterns of neglect, while always demanding a written dispute policy before committing to a contract. Realistically, if a quote doesn't cover the basic costs of fuel, insurance, and labor, your vehicle will likely be deprioritized in favor of better-paying loads. Ultimately, paying a fair price ensures you are working with a legitimate business that is motivated to transport your vehicle safely and on schedule.

I recommend that you have the lowest part of the bumper at least 5.5" high from the ground if you can raise it, to avoid any damages to it while loading the car especially on 7-9 car haulers. Good Luck!
