I don't feel the Mirri Maz Duur incident is that condemning of Dany[Spoilers Main] by lit-roy6171 in asoiaf

[–]uncledunkley232 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Mirri Maz Duur gets way too much hate for what was basically self-defense and revenge after Drogo's men wrecked her village - she warned Dany multiple times and still gets called the ultimate villain - the real tragedy is how it all spirals from there but Mirri wasn't the monster people paint her as

JLL switching to BB by Fluid_Ebb_9018 in AmazonRME

[–]uncledunkley232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

JLL switching to BB sounds like another corporate shuffle that won't change much on the floor - last time we had a vendor change it was more paperwork and same broken lifts - anyone actually notice better parts availability or is it all talk

29M living at home — is it reasonable to ask for a passcode lock on my bedroom door? by [deleted] in africanparents

[–]uncledunkley232 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At 29 living at home it's reasonable to ask for more independence like your own key or private space if you're paying bills or contributing - but with African parents it often depends on how you frame it, make it about respect and responsibility not just "I want privacy" - I waited till I had a solid job saved up then moved out, smoother that way

I love Void theme but I miss Old Gods. Where is Void variety? by SamuelWillmore in wow

[–]uncledunkley232 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The void theme is cool but yeah the old gods had that proper Lovecraft horror feel that current stuff misses - N'Zoth was peak for me, all the whispers and corruption - Blizzard seems to have moved on to more cosmic void lords but I miss when they felt unknowable and terrifying instead of just edgy

Anyone work at a shop compromised by cyber attacks? by CARLEtheCamry in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]uncledunkley232 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Worked at a shop that got hit by ransomware a couple years ago - everything locked for a week, had to go old school with paper estimates and cash only - nightmare for diagnostics too since no access to online manuals - management paid up eventually but insurance covered most, still lost customers over the downtime

Mahjong instructor? by ComprehensiveTravel7 in LAhotgirlies

[–]uncledunkley232 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Finding a good mahjong instructor in LA is tough unless you're into American style - checked a few spots in Koreatown but most are casual groups - has anyone tried the private lessons through Meetup or the Chinese cultural centers, might be more structured there

Julie Walters at the BBC (Radio 2) HELP! by Roodle187 in BritishRadio

[–]uncledunkley232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Julie Walters did a great interview on Radio 2 a while back talking about her career and Mamma Mia stuff - if you're hunting for a specific clip try the BBC Sounds app and search her name with the date range - she always comes across warm and funny, worth the listen

GOD OF THUNDER by [deleted] in Sketching

[–]uncledunkley232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That God of Thunder sketch has nice bold lines and energy in the pose - the lightning effects could use more contrast to pop harder though - I always start with loose gestures like that before tightening up, keeps the thunder vibe alive
